This author has the amazing ability to have you fall in love/lust with these characters yourself and the books have great storylines with suspense and adventure too, not just gratuitous sex scenes.
Now, I must say, that I thought BDSM was about sadism and masochism...it's not! There is a huge spectrum that includes bondage, discipline, dominance, submission, sadism and masochism (though these books mainly show how a Dom/sub relationship works (along with bondage, spankings, etc and includes some incredibly sensual and enticing scenes).
If you are new to this genre (like I was), and enjoyed the now-mainstream Fifty Shades of Grey, then this book is the perfect "next step" on your journey. Trust me, give this book a try and you'll be hooked, and you too will call yourself a Masters Brat ;)
Didn’t like the 3 short stories in the beginning. Just as you get into the first story (about a 16 and 42 year old – disturbing!!), the second begins and I found it difficult to adjust.
I also didn’t like Damian and Savannah’s story. How the hell do you go from tortured/almost raped to having hot sex with someone that you know for less than 2 days? Some of the dialogue I also found cheesy, like “his rod and her nips”…?
Mark, Luke and Angie’s story was also dodgy. I found it difficult to connect with either of the three. The two men did not seem committed to a relationship with Angie really; they contradicted themselves around every corner. They have sex with her together, but can’t stand the thought of not having her for themselves individually???
Although I like Kallypso’s writing style, I’m so turned off that I will not be reading the next book in the series unfortunately.
Admittedly, the opening scenes caught my attention, so I read on. There are lots of characters and backstory. Lots of interactions and developments, but as the premise developed, it was not appealing to me at all. I was looking for something a little steamy that involved servicemen, but this was uncomfortable for me. Some scenes were a little too graphic, and I was not at all turned on during the more "sexy" ones. I wanted to connect to the characters, but struggled to after awhile. The age differences between a couple of them was bizarre and the lifestyle described was creepy to me. It seemed much darker than the whole traditional sub/dom thing. But, if you are really into that, this book might be amazing for you. For anyone who might be hesitant about graphic sub/dom scenes, proceed with caution.
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book since BDSM play is prominent and there is a note saying these books weren’t erotica. While there is a BDSM theme there is a story as well. I will let you read the synopsis for yourself since I think the author does a far better job at that than I do.
I enjoyed this book so much so that I just bought ”Nobody’s Hero” and it is on my kindle just waiting for me to read it. I give Masters at Arms and Nobody’s Angel 4 stars and I am looking forward to reading Book 3 in the Rescue Me Saga.
