Although released under the banner of the legendary "Masters at Work "(Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez & "Lil'" Louie Vega), except for one MAW cut (a remix of Willie Bobo's classic "La Descarga del Bobo") this is a compilation of original recordings by such luminaries of the Latin jazz world as Cal Tjader, Eddie Palmieri, Willie Bobo, Dave Pike, and Herbie Mann. The album is a fitting tribute by MAW to Latin jazz. If you can't move and groove to these cuts you're either deaf or dead. As an appetizer try out "Picadillo", (originally recorded by Tito Puente) as interpreted by Cal Tjader and Eddie Palmieri. Salud.

Great for lovers of latin jazz, probably a surprise to fans of the usual work by MAW. The first 10 tracks are straight-up gems just as originally recorded; I can't tell that any of them have been remixed or had any dance-floor-friendly material added. In other words, these are apparently some tunes (going back to the 60s) which are some of their favorites which they are "re-presenting" to the world in a nice CD compilation form. And they are indeed great songs; listen to the clips - if you like them, you'll like the whole CD.

The final track finally gets a MAW remix, adding terrific, terrific sampled percussion and stuff to a Willie Bobo cut making a new dancefloor classic for contemporary times.
