5.0 out of 5 starsIf you're like me and Starbucks' $5 drink isn't working for you
Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2017
I've been a HUGE fan of matcha for two years now. I used to order matcha water from Starbucks when it used to be 87 cents. (But corporate caught on). If you're like me and Starbucks' $5 drink isn't working for you, but you still crave your matcha this is the closest thing you'll get as far as results go. I'll be honest though, through some investigation, I discovered that Starbucks put some sugar with their matcha. So no, it doesn't taste AS sweet. After a few times though and experimenting, I mix up my matcha with coconut milk and it's just as delicious. I'm also a HUGE caffeine addict. Matcha really, really does give you amazing steady energy throughout the whole day. I tell my friends it's like having all your cells slowly wake up one at a time and your whole body is revitalized. I know I sound like salesperson but that's honestly what it does for me. I used to have 7-8 cups of coffee a day. No exaggeration. I just graduated from grad school. But now I only need my one cup in the morning and it's matcha water for me for the rest of the day. Seriously, if you're looking for clean, no crash, HEALTHY, energy, try this ! You won't be disappointed. It also took me a while to figure out the serving size/ portions. I fill my 32 oz. canteen every morning and put 2-3 scoops and shake it up with ice. Some may like it lighter some may like it a little stronger but that's my regimen.

1.0 out of 5 starsNOT MATCHA!!!
Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2020
I religiously use a ceremonial grade match to start my morning every day. After reading reviews and looking for a more budget friendly option, I found this on amazon. I would say disappointment is an understatement for this product. IT IS FALSLEY ADVERTISTED AS MATCHA. This is just finely milled green tea in powder form. IT IS NOT MATCHA. Do not be fooled. What's even more upsetting is the fact that I opened it to try it and can no longer return it. It also comes in a package that is entirely different from what is displayed. Please avoid at all costs if you are looking for real matcha. I wish I could get my money back.

I drink quite a bit of tea and like to think of myself as someone who knows what matcha should taste like. Now if there's anyone that complains about the taste, it's only because they were expecting some other product, this is pure matcha, nothing added to it.

That being said, this is not some magical product. It doesn't dissolve any different than other premium matcha, it doesn't have a considerably higher level of antioxidants or the like and challenge any product that claims so to put their claims to the test via hard data. What you get here is clean tasting, extremely flexible, and organic matcha. The size of the bag is perfect.

I should note that I am currently deployed and have little access to the facilities to make a great cup of tea. One of the great things about matcha however is that you need only a blender bottle and ice and you have a perfect iced matcha for the Iraq heat. Let me tell you, nothing like the grassy, subtly sweet taste to get your morning started right. PT? Matcha. Drills? Matcha. conducting a firefight with Islamic State extremists? Hasn't happened yet, but if it happened I can tell you that I would have my Hydroflask filled with this stuff and engage them with the calm energy of the vegan, philosophy major, Prius-driving, non-binary person I am.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware! This is NOT Culinary Grade
Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2020
Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)Verified Purchase
States this is Culinary Grade. But this is NOT the Culinary Grade as it once was or as advertised. This is something nasty with a pungent smell and terrible color. Highly disappointed. Epic fail Kiss Me Organics. Sorry. In picture with the two products, a true Culinary Grade is on the right and is a bright green. This product is featured on the left. As you can see, it is a dull green and looks nothing like Culinary Grade nor what is advertised on the package. Almost certain this is not even Matcha, but nothing more than ground green tea.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not recommend this brand
Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2020

This matcha powder has a very bitter taste, and it has an off smell. My first purchase of matcha powder was from a different brand(Jade Leaf) than this one. Jade Leaf had a pleasant, fresh aroma. I used it to make a latte, & the taste was mild & smooth. Once I ran out, I came across this brand, Kiss Me Organics. It was the same price as Jade Leaf, but I would be getting 4oz instead of 1oz. When I received my order, I compared the two products. Kiss Me Organics was a little darker & browner than the Jade Leaf powder. The aroma of the powders were completely different. Jade Leaf had a fresh & pleasant aroma, while Kiss Me Organics had a dirt smell. I fixed my latte the exact same way I had been previously when using the Jade Leaf matcha, but this time used the Kiss Me Organics matcha instead. The latte tasted very bitter, and there was an aftertaste that lingered. I would not recommend this product at all. I've used it once, & now I will be throwing it away because it is nonrefundable.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE this matcha
Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2015
Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)Verified Purchase
I LOVE this matcha. I've tried the real Japanese matcha before (it was quite expensive) so I know the basic qualities of matcha powder. Let me tell you, this matcha is really good. It smells good with a vibrant green color as a matcha should be, and tastes good! Also, the bonus ebook is an interesting and helpful source for new recipes (I've never thought of putting matcha into pizza as a spice...).

I use matcha for my facial mask (yes, yogurt, honey w/ matcha powder is a great mask for all skin types). I also love having 1 tsp of matcha mix with jasmine tea and half & half. Once, I made matcha doriyaki (a type of pancake with red bean patse filling) and it was delicious! Using matcha will detox your body inside-out, literally!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Coffee Substitute + Health Benefits!
Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2017
Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)Verified Purchase
As someone who was a light coffee drinker but was always looking for an alternative, I stumbled upon this product while searching the health benefits of green tea online. Since using it, and cutting out coffee and energy drinks (which are possibly the worst things you can possibly drink to get an energy boost), I have noticed the benefits almost immediately. I feel energized, focused, and ready to take on the day, instead of feeling shaky, jittery, and like I needed to calm down or relax before starting the day. Throw in the health benefits of ECGC (highly recommend googling this), and the antioxidant power of green tea, and you have an awesome product. Highly recommended!

This is a good strong matcha tea. It gets me going in the morning but without any of the jitteriness like from coffee. It has a strong rich flavor. It was cited as one of the top brands to buy so I tried it. It's greener that another brand I tried so I feel that this is healthier for me as stated in some of the research I found on matcha tea. Have this on auto delivery.

3.0 out of 5 stars Keyword: CULINARY. Using this solely for baking

12/07/2020 UPDATE: A customer rep has graciously offered to send me a replacement, which I accepted and am grateful about the extra mile the company's taking. But after trying the replacement, my original review still stands... perhaps it's time for the company to visit the supplier source.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
This product is very clearly advertised as CULINARY GRADE -- recommended for baking, concocting latte, and blending smoothies really... so I appreciated how it's not trying to be more than what it is. The design is a bit gimmicky, clearly a Western brand jumping on the superfood bandwagon. Some reviewers are expecting the matcha to be ceremonial grade, where you can mix it with water and drink it straight up... no no no, this matcha is too bitter, dull, and gritty-tasting for that. The matcha is not as bright and earthy as advertised on the pouch; it is duller with a yellow-ish undertone (kind of musky smelling when you open the pouch). So even for a culinary grade, there are better quality ones out there. Ideally to make this matcha work, you'd want to add enough milk, sugar, cream, etc. to lessen the bitterness and seaweed-taste. I've tried this for lattes but the gritty, seaweed-taste still overwhelms the lattes. But this matcha worked quite well for my cheese cake because baking often requires lots of other ingredients that will overpower the potency of this gritty matcha. If you want to drink high-quality matcha, be ready to pay more per gram and look for ones with brighter and smoother consistency. Good matcha should be savory, not too bitter and yes, even naturally sweet (without sugar) -- so stop expecting this from culinary-graded matcha, especially ones branded by non-Japanese companies.
