- CEREMONIAL GRADE QUALITY - This is the highest grade matcha tea available. Only the youngest, greenest, and most delicate leaves are chosen to enhance the natural sweetness of the tea. There is no bitterness and no traces of stems or leaves— just light, soft tea powder that froths easily.
- DELICIOUS COFFEE ALTERNATIVE - Matcha tea contains roughly 25-35mg of caffeine per half teaspoon, but won’t make you jittery or cause an afternoon coffee crash. Matcha green tea also contains L-Theanine, an important amino acid, as well as vital antioxidants. In fact, it contains 137 times the antioxidants of regular green tea.
- GUARANTEED FRESH - Our premium matcha tea is ordered in small batches and ground fresh to order. This means it is fresher than what’s sold in stores, and freshness means brilliant color, intoxicating aroma, and less bitterness. All orders are packed in airtight containers to ensure freshness.
- AUTHENTIC JAPANESE ORIGIN- Our organic matcha tea is shade grown in the Nishio region of Japan by matcha tea experts. The special climate of Nishio produces the highest quality natural matcha tea. It is harvested during the first harvest in early May.
- CERTIFIED USDA ORGANIC - Our Japanese matcha tea is raised, harvested, and processed without the use of harmful pesticides or inorganic fertilizers and is non GMO and gluten free. It is hand picked and stone ground on granite mills. We also safety test for heavy metals and perform radiation testing every month.

What makes Kenko Tea so great? Well, our obsessive farmers in Nishio reckon it's all in the art of growing, whilst our matcha artisans insist that their technique is superior to all others. We think it's a bit of both, and are proud to call Kenko Tea one of the world's finest matcha teas.
THE KENKO DIFFERENCE
We're passionate about matcha green tea - in fact, high-grade matcha is Kenko's sole focus. We source the highest-grade matcha in the world from the special Nishio region in Japan, then we grind the premium leaves in small batches and seal it in airtight packaging. This careful treatment pays off: our matcha looks brighter and more vibrant than our competitor's tea, which means it froths easier and tastes more delicious.
FROM FARM TO HOME
Our matcha green tea powder is as fresh as it gets: it goes from Japan to our headquarters straight to you. No sitting on a shelf or going bad in a warehouse!
The highest grade of tea available, ceremonial grade matcha green tea is made of only the youngest, greenest, and most delicate leaves. This produces a naturally sweet tea that froths easily.
Each month, we perform full safety tests, including testing for radiation and heavy metals. Our matcha green tea is always pure and always safe.
Our matcha green tea is 100% natural, non-GMO, vegan, raw, gluten free and certified USDA organic.

The Kenko wins on the color and foam. It whips up like any other fine grade matcha, and makes a lovely emerald bowl. Where it falls short is in flavor and the feeling of well-being. The flavor is quite mild and not very complex. I attempted to correct for the flavor with greater amounts of matcha powder in the serving, but succeeded only in making myself jittery from additional caffeine. The amazing flavor I associate with matcha just wasn't there. The feeling of well-being never materialized, either. That feeling is a very vague and subjective criticism, and should perhaps be discarded from the overall rating, but the flavor alone earns the tea only three stars.
HOWEVER, I will say for organic matcha, it is likely Kenko is very good. I have tried a wide range of organic and non-organic teas, and I often find organic teas to be less flavorful than their non-organic counterparts. I don't know why this is. I am not biased against organic food; I often choose organic foods in preference for both their flavor and better practices. Organic teas, though, consistently disappoint.
I think if you are committed to an organic lifestyle, and are looking for a matcha selection, Kenko is a fine choice. If you are looking for great matcha, I recommend Ippodo's ceremonial grade. Also, do yourself a favor and learn how to make matcha properly. It is brewed at a much lower temperature than even regular tea, and you must use the proper amount of powder for your serving, and you must whisk it thoroughly in a matcha bowl. You must also take care to drink the matcha before the powder settles out. If you make the tea wrong and hate the result, don't leave a negative review of the tea. That is user error, and not the fault of the seller. Also, if you do not already enjoy green tea, it is unlikely you will enjoy matcha. It is a more intense experience than regular brewed green tea.
First try, Jade Leaf Culinary grade: From Japan, good flavor, ok color, reasonably priced, just not amazing.
Next, RLT Starter Matcha: From China, bland even when adding extra powder, incredibly cheap, brownish color... just bad! (Return)
This product, Kenko Culinary grade Matcha: From Japan, full of flavor, bright neon green, worth the extra $$.
I have learned that a little goes a long way. Currently I use 1/4 - 1/2 tsp per 8-10 oz of water and it is perfect. I have used this tea in several different ways, including hot tea, iced tea, latte, and in a panna cotta. They all have been wonderful and the wife an I often enjoy a hot cup of matcha with honey.
As others have mentioned, I can "feel" the caffeine but can't explain it. With coffee, I sometimes feel hyper and jittery and experience a crash, with this tea I don't feel any of that.
The way I mix my tea is in a blender bottle although any bottle would probably work. I did place the powder into a glass container for easy access.
I would buy this product again.
Email sent by the company was perfect and included a helpful PDF. Good experience all around.
With that being said, this is still good matcha. Most matcha here on Amazon have English on them. They are not made by Japanese companies. At least this one has a decent light green color and the taste is good. It doesn't taste stale or gritty and smells right. The taste is a bit lacking so people who find green tea hard to drink might enjoy this more.
