What I didn't like:
The lessons are VERY scripted. Some people may like that. We don't. It sounds too formal. Much too much like a public classroom spiel. We prefer a much more laid back approach and aren't really into things with specific scripts. To some people that may be just what they're looking for but I'm not trying to recreate a public school classroom at home, especially not for Kindergarten so this was a no go for us.
The one concern I have is that Saxon introduces a concept, but doesn't have the work sheet to correspond with that concept until later down the road. I would prefer an immediate worksheet with the new concept; then add it in again later. I adapted my own practice problems with the new concept that was being introduced. In the end, my child received more instruction on the individual concepts than what was produced via the manual/worksheets.
Overall, I like Saxon Math and will continue to use this curriculum as long as I am homeschooling.

Most reviews advise Saxon K is too easy for kindergarteners and to skip the meeting I would advise not.Read more
