I began using EP as a homeschool curriculum just a few months ago and so far we are loving this curriculum.
When I first started using EP, I made the decision to order the EP printables off Amazon, as it was much cheaper than printing the worksheets using our printer and expensive ink. With the purchase of all the printables we needed, I also ordered the EP 5/6 Math workbook and Parent's Guide to give my 5th grader extra math practice.
As for the Parent's Guide, which I'm reviewing, I want to love it, but I don't - and here's why. First of all, the print is so tiny I have to use my reading glasses as well as a magnifying glass see the problems and solutions. A book with a larger print would great! Second reason as to why I don't care for the Parent's Guide - it's pretty much just an answer key. While each lesson gives a few solutions to the problems, not all the problems are actually worked out. There's no lesson. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to "teach" my child when I'm not 100% certain how to get the solution to an answer. I'm no dummy, but 5th grade math isn't the math I grew up on. I've actually had to go back and refresh my own skills in order to teach orders of operation or calculate negative fractions. Just wish the book was more like a teacher's manual. While not a complete waste of money, it could be much better. And again, larger print.
