Since I was a kid, I have read many books containing similar puzzles and math-related activities. However, what makes this book different -and very interesting- is the account of how the kids reacted to the activities, what frustrated them and what engaged them, and the candor with which the author explains his own reactions and frustrations when the kids did something he did not expect. The style of the book makes it a pleasure to read. Great resource for parents and teachers of preschoolers!

This book is full of wonderful engaging activities for young children (3-7 years old). I wish this book had been around when I or my children were younger.

I wish my parents had this book. Unfortunately past cannot be changed. However I am glad I found this book at the right age for my daughter. We have been going through the activities and she really loves it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to make their kid's Math education fun.

We're homeschooling our kids, and one of the biggest concerns we've had is how to properly teach Mathematics to young children. I knew that I detested the standard school approach, but my attempts at doing better on my own fell flat with my 5 year old. This book has both specific activities and a general philosophical approach that is excellent! I've had much better results with my (now 6) year old, and am using these ideas to begin teaching my 3.5 year old as well!

Many of the activities work better in a group setting, so consider which of your kids' friends might be interested in being involved as well. The activities in the book are mostly for ages 4-6, with a few harder ones that would be appropriate for age 7. The philosophy, however, is applicable for teaching children of any age!
