A personal favorite
I grew up when these films were produced and I absolutely love the matrix series. While not as ground breaking as the original matrix, Reloaded definitely has some strong points.Overall a solid buy

You may have heard the critics putting down this movie, well forget it. With exception of estableshed SciFi movies like the Star Trek movies ( which are based on the first two Star Trek series) and the Star Wars movies (the orginal, special edition release and episodes 1 and 2) all of which I think they are expected to speak well of because all of them are so famous and well loved by fans, it's hard to find a SciFi movie that the critics speak well of.Critics just don't get Scifi.
If you're a Scifi fan don't pay any attention to critics abd thier movie ratings, if you think what you've seen in previews and heard from friends who like Scifi, than see the movie!
OK, that being said Matrix Reloaded is a great movie several reason. First off, in the orginal Matrix you only got to see the main charactor's abilites at the end of the movie, in Matrix Reloaded he has them throughout the movie, you see more of the resistance fighters besides those on the one ship from the first matrix movie not to mention the city that was only refered to in the original movie. One critic stated that it's ony half a movie, a guess he's never heard of something called a cliffhanger. Not to mention that they came up with a believe way to challenge the main charactor's new abilites that it consistant with what kind of world that the story takes place in and believable reasons why the main charactor should doubt himself again, so there is some question in the storyline as to if he can lead the resistance to victory, so it's not like it will be a walk in the park for the resistance.Any other gripes the critics have with this movie is simply because Scifi is simply over thier heads
and once again critics both refuse to believe Scifi movies are just as good as any other movie, and some critics never heard of a cliffhanger.

...but still very good and certainly worth owning. Some of the dialogs from the early parts of this film (especially when the crew arrives in Zion) are rather poorly scripted / acted, but overall there are some superb scenes and transitions between them. The whole chapter about the Merovingian and his wife was of course the crux of the whole movie, and the subsequent fight scenes in the Chateau and freeway chase were excellent.
Neo's dialog with the Architect was very well done, and wisely Neo's part in it was short and sweet since Keanu isn't the world's most compelling orator on screen. I do wish the Architect's dialog was simplfied at points. Obviously, the big words and big phrases are there to reflect his persona and analytical consciousness but you have to watch it two or three times before it sinks in because he speaks clearly but rather quickly. "And though it is a burden assiduously avoided, it is not entirely unexpected and therefore, not beyond a measure of control..." You get the idea.
Some of the special effects were overdone in this movie, particularly the end of the freeway chase where Neo swoops down at precisely the right moment and grabs his two companions, then spirals upward. Also, the "Superman Thing" was a little overdone. I suspect a vortex of clouds swirling down towards a rooftop might've been enough to send agents to that very spot, were we thinking of what is consistent with the storyline and what isn't but these are minor details.
I think the effects in this movie are more about "flash" than awe and grit. Other than the hovercraft port of Zion maybe, they don't engender "raw" feeling that the effects in the original movie gave (the powerplant for example). It feels somehow more removed from an audience perspective. With the first movie, I felt as though I was "in the scene", with this movie, I felt more like I was on the outside looking in (though what I was looking at was certainly entertaining).

This movie is so cool and inception like!!! The action and plot is so great along with awesome acting and camera shots. The premis is of a world where artificial intelligence had taken over and all the people of the world were plugged into a program so that they would think that they're living.... Except for a handful. These people are trying to defeat the machines and find "The One". This one is... Drum role :)... Neo. The main storyline in this one of the trilogy is of Neo's training, grasp on reality, and trying to realize that the program isn't real so that he can practically be a super hero... It's awesome! I would so recommend this movie to anyone who likes action, suspense, a deep, think-instigating plot, and just anybody who wants to be up to date with cultural references because many come from this trilogy. Go and see it!

It was so great to see the same magnificent characters back in place and most certainly back in action. This is a movie to experience; not just to watch. Neo's purpose becomes more clear and the entire story takes on more breadth. The fight scenes are literally out of this world. The car chase was so spectacular that I couldn't even imagine how it was accomplished...luckily, the follow up on the second disk showed how the special effects were brought to life. Not since Star Wars have I been so thoroughly entranced by a movie...and I'm not trying to compare the two trilogies because the Matrix is much, much, much better than Star Wars ever was! If you loved the first installment of The Matrix, then you'll be compelled to see Reloaded. Remember, too, that Reloaded was filmed along with the 3rd movie, Revolutions. There is a continuity that makes the ending of Reloaded seem very abrupt. I highly recommend that you get both Reloaded and Revolutions and enjoy the entire adventure without gap.

Matrix Reloaded
The second movie expands and develops the perspective changes to see the wider connections and extensions to this story.
Such as when in the matrix, you use the Matrix graphics drivers as part of the machine. to be outside these drivers you see the environment in a wildly different manner. Agent Smith is deeply affected by the conflict. Has somehow by accident or design, enabled it to copy itself and to aim to populate and destroy the world of hackers. The fight sequences become more active, or ridiculous, depending on your view. The philosophy side is more subtle than the first of this outing. You need to see it a few times to get it. To get a problem sorted Neo tries to find the key maker (Randall Duk Kim). To get him he needs to see the head of a group Merovingian (Lambert Wilson). His partner, Persephone, (Monica Bellucci) Is attracted to Neo. He, the Merovingian, has overseen several of the iterations of the Matrix and will see this repetition as less concerning. Neo meets the creator of each of the Matrix versions, Architec (Helmut Bakaitis). This is the conformation of the several versions of the Matrix and he is close to what we would call, God. There are special fight scenes and car racing crashing scenes that are amazing computer effects and real stunt drivers. The long driving scenes were filmed on a specially built tarmac, a cordoned road of less than a mile in length, and around 100 takes were photographed and the best edited to the final scenes.
I would just about think that all these are five-star movies. But I think this is just about the best all-around movie of the three I have seen so far.
