This version expects that you watch TV - the Twilight series, Nickelodeon, and so on. I wish they would stick with the words and ideas that people would univerally know - instead of these pop culture icons. I honestly don't know the actors of Twilight or Sunny and me. What a waste of a card. We made a rule that if you get an actor that you don't know, you can just get rid of the card and substitute another. I expected a better value, but I must admit that I really love the Apples to Apples game. The Kids version, which is way less expensive is a better deal for an introduction. http://www.amazon.com/Apple-Apples-Kids-Plus-Comparisons/dp/B00112EJEY/ref=sr_1_1?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1359334832&sr=1-1&keywords=apples+to+apples+kids

I played regular apples to apples and though I found it quite enjoyable, its not exactly family friendly. This one is really great, the words are easy even for kids to read and easy to explain the meanings to the ones they don't understand. What I like best about it though is that none of the combinations ever made me uncomfortable as a parent. My 8 year old and I even came up with a way to play it with just the two of us. We both chose a card to go with the green one in the middle and took turns deciding which one was the best match. On some we had no good choices and on some each of us that had a good answer got to pick an apple token. On some we practiced politeness when telling each other, "I need to pick the one I put down ok?" Great practice for good sportsmanship. One thing that is also nice is because of the apple tokens, you might guess who's winning, but you're just not sure until you add them up at the end. Great fun! :)

We love this game better for the whole family.I have a 9yo and a 16yo and this game can be played by all. The words a simple on the judges cards, and the cards in your hand are simple and if it is a persons name it is someone that they have heard of. We played it over Thanksgiving and 2 kids 7yo and 10yo had asked for it for Christmas. Even the adults that played found the simpleness of this version was nice to play with than the regular game. scoring with the apples is easy too. I think the directions say to play to 5 or 10 but we usually play till the apples are gone. Great game for kids and adults.

No instructions came with this game. This should have been noted prior to my purchase. Disappointed , as this was a gift.

Different cards than the "Party Box", plus some nice cardboard tokens in a bag if you are into that sort of thing. Odd shaped box is gimmicky though.
