Product Description

This small, travel-size version of the award-winning game Blokus is a perfect on-the-go strategy game for two. The simple rules take less than a minute to learn, yet the game has the depth to challenge both beginners and experts alike. Each player chooses a color and takes a set of 21 pieces. The basic strategy is to place all your tiles on the game board while trying to block your opponent from placing their tiles. The first player places any piece of their choice at the starting point. Each color plays in turn. Two pieces of the same color must touch at their corners, but they cannot touch along their sides. The game ends when both players are blocked from laying down any more of their pieces. The winner is the player for whom the total area of his remaining pieces is the lowest. The Blokus To Go. pieces snap securely in place for easy storage and you can close up the game to finish later. Contents of Blokus To Go. Gameboard with 196 Squares, 42 Game Pieces in 2 Colors and Instruction Sheet.

Blokus To Go is a smaller, more portable version of the full four player Blokus game and the two player Blokus Duo. The mechanics remain unchanged - each player attempts to place all of their pieces on the board, provided no like-colored pieces touch edges, corners only. Unlike the less portable versions of the game, To Go has holes in all of the pieces to allow them to snap into place - both on the board and the storage trays. You'll want to be careful not to press the pieces down too tightly or they'll be difficult to get back up. That said, even with light pressure the pieces remain secure.

The game itself is great for kids, teens, and adults as there are varying levels of strategy that all age groups can find and enjoy. As a teaching aid for kids, it serves as a good 'intro game' that involves spacial reasoning, without heavy mechanics that could otherwise confuse children.

All in all, it's a good product.

I love the original game of Blokus and we play it often at home. I bought this version to bring on backpacking trips. If I were just rating the game itself, I would give it 5 stars. But this particular travel design is terrible. It's difficult to remove the stored pieces from their pegs, and packing up takes forever because you need to put each tile back in it's proper place on the storage cover. It's like completing a puzzle just to clean the darn thing up. I would much prefer the tiles are somehow loose in a separate compartment than fixed in this tough-to-maneuver peg system. After using it just a few times, we put this one away. Will likely give away before long because no one uses it. Better to just buy the scaled-down (2-player) version of Blokus and make a little pouch for it. It's lightweight and easier to use.

This game was purchased for my husband for Christmas. We like that it is small and portable. Since receiving it, we have taken it with us everywhere we have went. I like that it is very easy to explain how to play, involves logic and does not take too long to complete. My 6 year old son, his 62 year old grandmother and our 30 year old neighbors have all enjoyed playing this game. We are definately considering getting the 4 player game.

Overall this is a solid verson of a board game taken to a high level of portablity (a nice travel version if you will). It is a good game for developing strategy and abstract thinking for young players and is a solid recommendation for schools (especially on rainy days). Only one thing that seems to fall short is the contrast between the green and blue pieces (they are too simlar on the board and may cause some issues with players with color blindness). The blockus Duo game, while not as portable has better contrast in pieces to some degree, but it may be a better fit for the ORANGE pieces from the duo game to be paired with the BLUE or GREEN from the travel version.

I love this game, and the ability to take it on road trips etc., however I'm not crazy about the design of the travel version. Some of the pieces are hard to get out, and some don't stay in. Also, the board doesn't latch shut, so it's easy to lose pieces (I've secured ours with a rubber band to keep this from happening). Hopefully they will makes some design changes, because this really is a great game, and fun to play anywhere!

We absolutely love Blokus (the hubby, 5-year-old and I), and so I bought us a travel version to take with us when we go. Only two can play at a time and it's easy to get stuck, but that's the nature of a travel-size game. The reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is that after using it on just one 8-day trip, the pieces don't stick in place when you close the game up, but instead fall off and are a mess when you open the game back up to play.

I really like the size portability for the kids on the road. Fits perfectly between them. The only thing is you have to click the pieces in the storage ends and can't slide them around to see which pieces you have left. Would've been better if only playing board had holders.

My friend introduced me to this game, I immediately loved the strategy and variety of moves. I bought my own and introduced it to my grandsons ages 4, 7 and 16. They all love it and the 16 year old beat me after two losses. The 4 year old gets frustrated but wants to play again and again.
