Anytime my kids friends come over they always want to play this. You have several different boards to choose from with pictures of all kinds of different things on them. There are two sides to each board with different topics. The side we play the most has letters on it. You also have covers to cover parts of the board, for example, the top half, left half, right half, or bottom half. This means you will not get to use that side of the board. The way this is determined is by rolling a dice. This makes it so the game is different even if you use the same board over and over. The other thing is you only have like 1 minute to find as many things with the particular letter that you can. Once done, everyone passes their board to the person beside you and you do a minute with theirs. Once everyone has played each others boards, you go through all of the items you found. You get points for finding items no one else found. We have had many laughs with this game. Even the 5 year old helps.

We played this in groups at a family gathering and all ages had fun - from 8-10 yr olds to the grammas and papas. This game was suggested by a special needs teacher to help focus a child's attention and participate in a fun social interaction. So glad we found it here as it is now out of print!
We didn't follow the included rules, but rather passed selected cards around to each group for a limited time. Each group identified and wrote down as many items as possible in the alloted time. Then the cards were passed to the next group. After all the cards made the rounds we shared our finds; as well as surprise and laughter! The ultimate game of "I spy, with my little eye."
This will definitely be included at all the future family gatherings, and maybe an adult game night. We could even try playing by "the rules"....

I remember playing this as a child and was so sad when our copy became lost in a move. I'm so happy I found this out of manufacture game. Each picture is beautifully illustrated on two sides and contains a letter or theme for which you scour the photo for an alloted time and write down everything you see pertaining to the given topic. Then you switch pictures until everyone has had a go with each, then you compare answers. It's great for all ages that can write, the older you get the more items you will recognize.

We had Scrutineyes twenty five years ago and gave it away when we changed countries. It is still wonderful and it is so much fun to see another generation enjoying it!

Even my grandkids love to play this game; the art work is amazing on the cards and you can play it over and over and never get all of the items on your list; there is always something new to see! Fun for the entire family. I bought one for each of my kids and their families and since they are no longer available in stores, Amazon is a great place to find them.

I played this game 20 years ago with my family. Now I have a family of my own and was looking for games to play with them. I loved this game then and I love it now. It was never a really popular game. I never saw advertisements for it. But, everyone who I play it with has fun. Too bad that I had to look so hard to find it. But, it was worth the money and time looking for it.

This game is for those who are creative and like to learn, but also want to have some good fun. The urge to know the names of things you see everyday, and some truly strange things you don't, is bound to keep you playing often. Really fun family night game.
**By the way, the game says, "for ages 18 & up." That's absolutely nuts. Our 10 yr old plays and loves it. (We give her a handicap) :)

Love this game! I don't know why the makers at Mattel decided it best to quit making this game! It is so much fun to play with family and friends!

Fantastic game, challenging for all ages.
Unfortunately, purchased as a gift and arrived with torn plastic and damaged box. I would have returned it if sent directly to me, the purchaser. Disappointed with Amazon in this respect as inadequately protected when posted.
