This is a “press your luck” style card game based on the video game of the same name for two to four players. I give it an overall score of 4 out of 5. Now the detailed review.

Game Summary:
In Fruit Ninja, the goal is to be the first player to reach either a) 25 points or b) have at least one card for each of the seven types of fruits. The fruits are strawberries, oranges, lemons, pears, apples, pineapples and watermelons. The deck also contains some power banana cards that give you benefits like being able to steal a fruit from another player. Lastly it contains bomb cards.

The cards come with three different colored backs (all cards shuffled together):
1. Green – few bombs, but mostly single fruits (lowest risk)
2. Yellow – more bombs but more cards with several of the same fruit
3. Red – most bombs but have cards with multiple fruit (up to five on a card) (highest risk)

On each turn a player cuts the deck of cards (saying “hee yah” or some other karate chop type noise) and has the option of picking either the top card from the bottom stack of cards or the bottom card from the top stack of cards. They can see the back of the former (to know riskiness) but can’t see the latter. After they pick their card, they flip it over. If it has fruit they put it in their pile for this round. If it’s a bomb on this initial draw they can ignore it.

The player then decides if they want to cut the deck again. If they do they cut just the top half of the cards from the previous time and repeat the process. This time if they get a bomb they lose all cards gained in this round and their turn ends. If they get fruit, they again get the option to go again, using the new top pile of cards.

I'm giving this 5 starts even though I have never, ever won a single game. It's fun for every age, easy enough you can play and chat at the same time. It's a press-your-luck game and I haven't had any. That being said, it's still a cute, fun game. One of the first "app" to card game I've enjoyed. You could easily use this as a "waiting" game at a restaurant with kids.

I was surprised to find that this card game was so well adapted from the app game. Very fun game to play that is fun for both adults and children. Very easy to pick up and quick to play. A lot of the game involves risk-taking and whether or not you want to risk a bomb for the reward of lots of fruit. Slice the deck and choose a card. Based on the color, you know whether or not you have a low, medium or high likelihood you will get a bomb, ending your turn. If you don't get a bomb you can choose to stop, getting all the fruit you collected, or decide to keep going and possibly collect more fruit. Collect 25 fruit total or 1 of each fruit and you win.

I'm a therapist for children and their families. This is a favorite at my office. It's a fun game the whole family can enjoy, and actually teaches decision making and impulse control as well. I bought a second deck for my own family and it's one of our favorites!

Fun card game, good for teaching strategy and counting. It is getting hard to find in stores, so I bought a back-up. Nice way to get them off of the computer.

I bought this for a grandchild who played it before he had a procedure in the hospital. He forgot the procedure but loved the game. I was very happy to find it on Amazon. It came in promised time, and my grandchild is very pleased.
