Matthew Taylor is an author of Science Fiction and Fantasy from beautiful, sunny Southern California. Now on the East Coast thanks to the United States Army, he is still learning to deal with the lack of In-N-Out, Old Bay-everything, and the absolute pleasure that is regular rainfall and occasional windshield wiper-freezing snow. He has a degree in political science and is working toward an advanced degree in cybersecurity. When not writing or soldiering, he enjoys reading, Judo, and hobbies such as miniature wargaming and PC games.

Blog postJust a quick post (all too infrequent posting up in this blog, I apologize!), but I wanted to announce the completion of the first draft for the third and final Jax Jensen novel! It has been quite a learning experience writing an entire trilogy of scifi books. Tons of doubts. Tons of "I don't want to do this" and then doing it anyway.
For everyone else that is trying to see a creative project to the finish, keep at it!

Work and dating are hard.
Even harder when people are trying to kill you…
Jax Jensen is a Special Agent with the Department of Inquiry, an investigatory agency charged with upholding the loyalty to, and cleansing the corruption from, the Intergalactic Federation of Free Planets. It’s a thankless job some of the time, an exciting job most of the time, and a deadly job all the time. With the presidential elections approaching, an old romance rekindling, and a violent terror cell raising hell, Jax is thrust into the spotlight as the inadvertent savior of the Federation President, and a new target of would-be assassin Haaken Galowix.
A freshly minor celebrity and the face of Federation resolve, it is up to Jax Jensen, his soap-opera obsessed AI, and an alien cab driver to foil the plans of Haaken Galowix, save the Federation from chaos, and win the affections of beautiful, headstrong Delora. Only now does Jax learn that corruption runs deep, loyalty is treacherous, and the ideals he’s held all his life may bring him closer to Haaken than he’d like to admit.
On the run following the assassination of the Federation president, ex-Special Agent Jax Jensen has gone from vaunted “Hero of the Spire” to suspected terrorist at warp speed. Racing to evade capture by his cohorts at the Department of Inquiry and clear his name, his former enemy becomes his greatest ally. With his glitchy AI, Keeper, and diplomatic firecracker Delora by his side—and the Federation’s guns at his back—Jax knows the only path to salvation is forward.
But an intergalactic balancing act of deadly proportions is underway as two mighty empires teeter on the brink of war. On a breakneck tour across exotic planets, corporate space stations, and nostalgic hometown streets, friendly faces greet Jax while deadly hands work in the shadows. Encountering difficult dilemmas at every turn, Jax must confront dark truths about his loyalty and limits…before his stars-damned luck runs out.
your one-stop potion shop…
Kennard Froste has come a long way from the kitchens of Draghof Keep to opening his first elixorium, where locals can sip tea, buy healing salves, or order a hand-crafted invisibility draught. He and his gnome wife, Nymiphi, have sunk their life savings into the shop, and nothing will stop them from making it a success. Not the outrageous taxes or permit fees. Not the strain it’s put on their marriage. Not even a horde of the undead.
It will take a staggering amount of holy water to combat the zombie legion, and only Kennard is equipped to handle it. As the town becomes overrun with animated corpses, it’s up to Kennard, Nymiphi, and an orc blacksmith and her elven wife to defeat the necromancer in their midst. Even if it means making the biggest sacrifice.
Having just finished his magnum opus, famed playwright Hon Jia is forced to confront this question when a band of separatists enter the picture and threaten everything he has worked so hard to accomplish. With the betterment of humanity at stake, is there a price too high, or bloody cost too great, he wouldn't pay?
The Playwright is a short story set in the high fantasy universe of The Winds of Taramore.
Klane is an uncharacteristically adventurous gnome, who's been smitten with the urge to explore places of the world few people—let alone hill gnomes—would dare to go. Since he was able, he has sailed down the Amethyst River and her many distributaries to satisfy his wanderlust. When Klane finds himself in the bowels of an abandoned mine holding a valuable stone and a dead miner's journal, he knows his days of lighthearted adventure are over.
