It causes a lot of attention, so I have to close my door at times. I can't resist the occasional bouncing to release stress. I think this ball is awesome. It is very sturdy and of quality materials and construction. It is my primary office chair, as the expensive ergo-chair has been pushed away from my desk. I slightly lowered my keyboard and the height of my monitors. When I sit on the ball, I sit straight and have my legs bent or straight out in front of me. The only warning I can give is other coworkers may borrow it.
I love this ball and will be ordering another for my home office - which will also be used in the family room while watching TV or folding laundry. I am comfortable AND having a core workout while at work. Who knows, all that bouncing may be burning a few calories also. I recommend putting this item in your shopping cart!
I planned to take it to my office to help relieve tension in my lower back from sitting in a chair for 12 hours. It's mid thigh high with the amount of air I have in it. It can be inflated according to your preference. I was able to write my name on the ball using a sharpee on the maxfitness logo located on the ball. Although it is the ONLY black fitness ball in my office. Shortly after I brought this ball into work, different exercise balls started to pop up all over the place. I've sat on others and generally they all feel the same although most people in my office made the mistake of purchasing smaller balls from local stores thinking they'd be just as big as this ball. WRONG! Amazon = Awesomeness.
My colleagues use my ball when I'm not in and they are larger than I am. My co-worker stands 6'4 and weighs 265 easy. It has no problem supporting their different heights and weights although admittedly I do get annoyed when I see them sitting on MY ball and cringe at the thought it bursting and sending someone falling to the ground. But...sadly my office is rather boring and stuff like this doesn't happen. The ball has withstood daily use for HOURS upon hours of sitting.
The ball is constructed of quality material. I don't anticipate this ball bursting EVER. I've sat on this thing for every 12 hour shift since I rolled it into the office. This translates to 1152 hours...and that's just me! I've also used it on my lunch hour to do basic stretches and work outs. Great for hyperextending your back. Great support. I don't ever really think that my ball is going to burst or I'd have a pretty hard time sitting on it. I've notice a change in my core as you tend to lean forward and sit up putting weight on your legs and relieving pressure on your lower back.
I also own the TKO ball (TKO Fitness Ball) and although they are both quality balls this Max Fitness ball does give a little more and as a "chair" in the office feels slightly more comfortable. The material is more flexible and has a shiny appearance to it as compared with the dull more dense material that the TKO ball is composed of. To be fair the TKO ball is advertised as an anti-burst ball and comes with a workout chart and hand pump (which I don't like). But I have logged more hours on my Max Fitness ball and use the TKO ball for workouts at home and to throw at my 9 year old when he's not looking. They are the only two brands I could find on Amazon offering black colored excercise balls. Either way you can't go wrong if you're in the market for a 75cm BLACK colored ball.
Decent price. Nice color (black). Not a bad price for a chair/workout device. It comes with a foot pump which is better than the cheesy hand pumps. Pump it up. Let it sit for a day and expand. Then inflate to your preference.
5 stars all the way.
I have no problem sitting on the chair. My butt hurt the first day but now I'm fine with it. I think I use it about 12 hours a day. I use my legs to keep it stable. The back of my calves are up against the ball. I can sit with the ball off my legs also but I tend to roll it forward or back after a while or kind of swirl around because that is fun. So I keep my legs up against the ball mainly to stop myself from moving around on it. People will greater will power wont have to do that.
Sometimes I have lower back problems that I think were due to my old desk chair. I was going to spring for a $500 chair but decided to try this $17 ball at the time I bought it ball instead. I'm pretty happy with it but you can't lean back and relax. You might need a real chair if you watch movies. My PC doubles as my TV so I can just sit on the couch when watching movies or stream to my nexus 7.
I started excising more but haven't done anything with the ball except bounce it around which is more fun than it should be. I'm probably easily amused.
The pump is cheap but that is ok. If they put in a real pump the cost would be double. As long as you don't go crazy with the thing you shouldn't break it. I took it nice and slow and made it a type of workout pumping the ball. Basically I alternated feet and never put my full weight on the pump. Also did a few pumps by hand which felt like a real workout also.
The one thing you have to worry about when using this as a desk chair is the height of your keyboard. There is no way to raise the ball so you will have to raise or lower your keyboard if you are not comfortable. That might not be easy to due depending on your desk.
I got a new chair so I put this away for about a year. The ball was extremely slimy after sitting around deflated all that time. When I say extremely slimy I mean EXTREMELY OILY. I actually thought maybe a can or jar of something spilled on it but no. For some reason this thing sweats oily slimy stuff. So make sure to wash it every now and then even if you have in a closet This is really one of the grosses situations I have had with anything. I have to remove one star just for how gross it is.
