Product Description

Platform: Xbox 360 | Edition: Special

For Max Payne, the tragedies that took his loved ones years ago are wounds that refuse to heal. No longer a cop, close to washed up and addicted to pain killers, Max takes a job in São Paulo, Brazil, protecting the family of wealthy real estate mogul Rodrigo Branco, in an effort to finally escape his troubled past. But as events spiral out of his control, Max Payne finds himself alone on the streets of an unfamiliar city, desperately searching for the truth and fighting for a way out.

Combining cutting edge shooting mechanics with a dark and twisted story, Max Payne 3 is a seamless, highly detailed, cinematic experience from Rockstar Games.

It was 2003 when Max Payne 2 came out, a sequel to a bloody, faul language game that had me go through its campaing at least 12 times. Bullet time was my old time favorite, and going through some of Max's darkest dreams was always a riddle on its own...I will cover the contents of the Special Edition at the end...

Now Max Payne 3 is here..we find an older Max, boozed and high on pills, the same old demons inside his head...His old self in a brand new game...Max Payne 3 will take you for a wild ride from the minute you start until the very end. I started playing the game last night at midnight and haven't been able to put it down until now; a solid single player will keep you on your toes and the various multiplayer options will keep you occupied for many hours to come.

The story begins with Max finding himself working in Brazil for a private security company looking after a real state big shot, whom puts Max in charge of his wife's security..of course, she is kidnapped..and that's as far as I will go...NO SPOILERS here.

The game looks amazing, from face animation to environments, everything has been done with extreme detail and it truly paid off for Rock Star, this is an A++ game. From shadows, to night lights, to gun battles, you will have plenty of eye candy to enjoy; it is a gorgeous game.

If you have a surround sound system, get ready to get your face melted; the deep bass and sharp bullets sounds make this an experience like no other. The voice work is top notch filled with plenty of faul language and taunts, it's the old payne we knew from before.

The main story is great, it will keep you intrigued from start to end, I can't go into much detail, but I can promise you this, it is a wild ride.

I had been waiting for the Max Payne III videogame to be released for probably a decade. The previous two games were spectacular, with better dialog and story development than most movies and novels. Sam Lake from Remedy did an outstanding job with both games. Whoever wrote the third installment butchered the very thing that made the Max Payne series alluring and addictive.

It was monologues such as the following that left me in awe of Max Payne II:
“All this time we got the fable of Sleeping Beauty wrong. The prince didn't kiss her to wake her up. No one who slept for a hundred years is likely to wake up. It was the other way round. He kisses her to wake himself up from the nightmare that has brought him there.”

Then Max Payne III came, and all we were given was monologues including the following:
“I'd killed more cops than cholesterol and still no sign of Becker. It wasn't the first time it dawned on me I should probably have gone over the plan in more detail, but it was too late for that now.”

I personally could not get passed the ill written part of the game. I played through it, and all I could think about was how much better it would have been if Sam Lake had written it, and if the Remedy team were involved in the production. I have no plans of playing this game again--cannot say the same for Max Payne I & II.

The Special Edition of the videogame is mediocre. The statue included is quite lousy. I like the idea of it, but the execution (especially the face) is lacking. The lithograph’s are pretty cool and I like the bullet key-chain. I bought it for pretty cheap, so I’m not that upset about it. I think I would have been pissed if I’d paid over $40 for it.

I had such high hopes for this game. It just goes to show that there are certain games that only certain developers are able to execute perfectly.

Save yourself an extra forty bucks. OK the only cool thing about the Special edition would have been the figure, Had it not been painted with hi-gloss enamel it might not have looked so much like a ken doll :/ its cheap looking and ugly. I wont even display this thing. so it sits in a box in the corner reminding me what a wast of money it was.

I remember playing the first 2 over and over. The third installment is like stepping back in Max's shoes once again. My only complaint is the game felt a little too short. Hopefully there will be some DLC in the future. Online was fun for a bit but it didn't keep me wanting to come back even with upgrade perks.

Pros:
It is Max Payne done right
Excellent story
Great graphics and cut scenes

Cons:
Little short
Online mode not as fun as I hoped
Would like to see a online coop mode

This game changed my entire opinion about how games should be. The graphics look astonishing, almost as if real life meets animation. The physics are flawless (as expected from a rockstar game) and the story is engaging and thrilling. I have yet to beat the game, but I can say that there has not been one mission where I was bored. The slow motion bullet-time is back and never ceases to amaze me. This game, however, is quite violent (especially during slow motion sequences) but it makes it all the more exciting. 5 out of 5 easy.

First off, this is the BIGGEST special edition Ive ever bought. This size of the box alone took me by surprise. It comes with the game, stand up max payne figure, pictures, keychain, etc. The game itself is very well done, Im impressed. This is an ADULT game, I really wouldnt recommend it for any youngsters. Do yourself a favor and get this huge special edition at what, cost me only 54 dollars??? it was going for over a 100! very much worth it.
