I can give to this game 5 stars, is not perfect but is a great game and i very happy playing it.

Essence of previous max payne is visible, more better than the film xdd

I need to try the multiplayer options but im sure the sigle player is the best of this game, anyways if this game would be more freedom, for running around the maps with more time, would be better.

I bough it cuz max payne 1 and 2 were a nice and fantastic games.

Sry for my english xd

If there's one thing you can say about Rockstar, it's that their story telling craft keeps improving.

Max Payne 3 is a departure from the previous two games in that you're no longer the squinty protagonist trapped in a city of madness, drugs and conspiracy. Instead, you're in sunny Brazil working as a private body guard, getting away from the rainy NYC from previous games.

Max has a few flash backs to his former life and how he got down to the tropics and tangled up in a kidnapping plot, but the story is heavily based on the corruption unfolding in Sao Paulo.

Although Max goes through a minor mid-life crisis and ends up shaving his head, it just doesn't feel the same without the nightmare levels or the dark delusions of a alcohol saturated mind. With no police force to report to or people to really be held accountable to, it feels a bit "gringo vigilante" throughout most of the game.

The gameplay is reasonably solid, but the difficulty curve takes a steep drop once you get familiar with aiming directly for the face every time. Bullet time only makes things easier when you're getting the hang of dialing your sights in. I have to imagine it's much more difficult with a controller, but with keyboard and mouse, it's only a matter of time before every enemy is one or two shots to the head away from no longer being a problem.

Like any good Max Payne game, the ending is pretty brutal and Max is left not much better off than he started with the bad guys dead and another killing spree heavy on his conscious.

Max is a simple man, he likes his booze, his guns, and one liners. He likes them enough that the whole game can be summed up into those three concepts. His personality really comes out in this game and he stays true to form as well. If you get bored of killing at least 1000 bad guys and watching cut scenes with max narrating gritty one liners over and over, this game is not for you. If you don't like auto aim and like to run out into the open with guns blazing and guns n roses playing in the background, you will die. If you want to rent/borrow this game and try to beat it in 24hr to beat it, you will fail. So to sum up, if bordom, recklessness and impatience define you, you will go back to being a day trader or coming up with an invention that replace everything.

However, if your a stubborn, slightly sick minded, self loathing, drunk with a gun OR can channel Max Payne for a few hours a night,..then you will have lots of fun like I did. I really like the fact that max didn't just breeze through every mission or win a trophy after killing 4 brainless robots dressed as bad guys. You are rewarded with a hangover and a cinical one liner after killing 50 questionable enemies (who is the the bad guy here)
AI is good in this game, enemies are plenty, story progresses and leaves twists and turns, and makes you wonder overall who is the real bad guy or am I just shooting people because "hey, that's what I came here for right!"

So enjoy self loathing, painful deaths, cinical one liners and intense bullet time battles over and over again until you actually have to get some stuff done, because the game is a good length.

I know how triple A titles now want to create a cinematic experience in a lot of the action games, but MAx payne 3 does this in a very intrusive manner. The cut scenes are well made but they constantly take control away from you while all you want to do is some uninterrupted bullet time. I can't say it's not fun but at least for me, it didn't not capture my attention enough for me to finish the game. Maybe one day i have nothing to do I may pick it up again, but i don't see that happening anytime soon.

I have only played the Single Player Campaign and I enjoyed it throroughly.

Pros:

1. Visually stunning.
2. Bullet Time and all other shooting mechanics feel well implemented.
3. Great, brutal storyline that is not hard to follow and ultimately delivers.

Cons:

1. Not much variation in weapons.
2. Minor glitches.
3. Too much grinding towards the end.

There aren't many shooters in the market that work this well when everything comes together. Highly recommended.
