my father got a few pair of these from the eye doctor and I was given one. They're great: 100% UVA and UVB protection is totally soothing, they block glare from many angles, fit over almost any size prescription glasses, are pretty tough for brittle plastic and they're so inexpensive. I've been wearing this brand ever since they were given to me (despite fashion victims calling me "Roy Orbison"...I also wear a wide brimmed hat: "Indiana Jones"...shut up, get a life)

People mistakenly advertise these as being polarized, but they're not. However, they still cut enough glare from shiny surfaces to be acceptable for even the most sun sensitive eyes (like mine). In fact, polarization can take away so much reflection you won't even be able to tell where ice and water are...that could be dangerous.

The bad thing is the plastic lenses aren't scratch resistant - if they don't come with a case or you can't find one large enough to fit them, they won't last long before you can't see out of them. Another is the bottom plastic shield doesn't extend far enough to block as much light from underneath as it could.

Smoke are the color to get - they keep the world pretty much the same color (minus glare). I tried the Amber and they color everything a bizzare shade of copper.

I had a pair of these glasses over the summer and they are terrific. The "arms" did eventually break for no apparent reason. I couldn't find another pair in the store so I bought a pair here on Amazon. You can't tell from the picture but these are humongous! They are so big that my husband doesn't want me to wear them around him! There are multiple styles and sizes available so it would be nice to know which you are getting here.

These Solar Shields are exactly what I was looking for. An easy fit over sunglass that looked more stylish than the squarish "Speed Racer" or "just had my eyes dilated" type.

The tag says they give you 100% UV ray protection. I believe it. They prevent sun from reaching your eye from any angle. This is important for protecting eyes with Age-related Macular Degeneration.

They also eliminate glare from the sun and make it much easier to see things in bright sunshine. They are lightweight and comfortable. They are made of polycarbonate plastic so they strong but, like most any pair of sunglasses they will not stand up to being sat on. After trying them out for several months, I went back and bought some more. I now have a pair in each automobile and another for yard work, or walks, etc. I also bought the clear type to use as additional eye protection when working with certain tools. I love them.

Inexpensive so I buy several at a time. If I leave them somewhere, who cares? Only complaint is that they do scratch up easily if I forget to put them back in the case. Still they last about a year and are a bargain compared to buying prescription sunglasses. These fit easily over my regular glasses. I I keep a pair in each car and one in the house so that I always have a pair handy.

I have had about eight pairs of Solar Shields and they all have broken--most at the left ear piece. The plastic is brittle and cheap, even by current standards for eyeglasses frames, which in general are incredibly over-priced and flimsy, and a major consumer rip-off.
In my opinion they are engineered to fail. I picked up a pair of Solar Shields at a Fred's store that were discounted down to $2.99, which is about the price they should sell for, given their cheap quality and lack of durability. They were made to end up in the landfill, along with mountains of other throw-away products (junk) produced in China for international corporations who take pride in how efficiently they can rip off millions of customers, over and over again.
I have saved all these broken glasses and am thinking of sending them back to Solar Shield. A futile gesture, I'm sure.

I'll be returning these immediately. They are hard polycarbonate plastic which means no give or flex. They look cheap, huge and ugly. They really look more like protective eyewear you use for yard work or with tools than sunglasses. It's a shame, because I have bought Solar Shield sunglasses before and loved them. In fact I have one pair I've been trying to find and buy more of because they are so nice. I'd love to have several pairs of those. Unfortunately it seems Solar Shield doesn't make those any more.

Similar products are sold bt many dealers on Amazon so they might not all be as bad as my purchase of this item It comes in a plastic wrapping . When I opened it up it literally fell apart in my hands and cannot be put back together So why buy iy here? Go to a retail store and buy it because if you get stuck like I did.. I have no recourse but to eat this mistake
I have bought many iutems on Amazon but I have to question future purchases. I bought suspenders that fell apart before I could put them on.
If you dfo buy here just be careful and read all the reviews!

Pretty crappy and ugly, however, they do wrap around and do protect the eyes. These are NOT polarized...meaning they will keep light from reaching your eyes, but if you need glare protection and filtration----these are NOT for you.
