I'm so glad I took a chance and bought this kitchen for my 2-year-old son. The details on the kitchen are great, the construction is sturdy thus far and it's provided hours of imaginative play. The assembly time was reasonable (I'd read reviews of similar kitchens where people said it took 3-4 hours to assemble) as it took me and my husband less than 2 hours to complete. We reinforced the pot rack bar and sink faucet with screws since these two items wobble and aren't held in place by anything. Very nice solid wood kitchen at a good price!

I bought this toy from Amazon after reading some great reviews. The price was right and the size was perfect for the small daycare home I run. The kids were so excited when it came. Then we tried to put it together!! NOTHING fit right! The pre-drilled holes were drilled on the wrong side, the screws didn't fit right, the doors didn't align correctly & the cute little bar to hang your dish towl... yeah forget that!! We would have returned it but we had 5 little children waiting so patiently to play with it. We managed to drill our own holes, finagel this and that, and make it work. We didn't get to use the bar, but the kids don't seem to care. It has provided hours and hours of fun and they don't notice the little imperfections. I hope this was just a fluke, and whoever buys this toys gets it with everything intact!! Good Luck!!

This is a compact kitchen with great features perfect for small spaces (or to not overwhelm a room) but still big enough for my taller than his age 2 1/2 year old. I think he'll comfortably fit its proportions until he's 5 years old. And he loves it. I'm so glad he and we are happy with it after all I went through to assemble it. First thing to know -- I'm very good at assembly. But this took me 3 hours!!! The instructions are ridiculous, they're just tiny illustrations, no text and nothing described in steps, you just have to figure it out. On top of it, like others here ours had mismatched holes and misaligned things. Like the slot to fit the backing into the lower cabinet wasn't aligned, so the backing sticks up a quarter inch higher than it should. I was still able to get the countertop on okay without it being too crooked. But in the meantime wasted time taking everything apart and doing them over again in hopes I could get the slot for the backing aligned better. Which didn't work. Also the pieces for the oven door are not aligned well and though it went on and it's functional it's slightly crooked and the magnets on the cabinet and door which keep the oven door fastened close so it's not flying open all the time, are out of line by a quarter inch. I'm going to have to find some magnets to glue on there. A child can be injured with the cabinet door always hanging open. In my experience assembling things all my life it's very very rare to get assemble-yourself furniture even the cheapest stuff with holes and parts not aligned. This factory in China doesn't have much quality control going on, or the product designers gave them the wrong specifications. DO NOT buy this kitchen if you are not good at assembly and understanding small, detailed diagrams.Read more ›

I purchased this set for my 18 month old toddler. I like that it is wooden, and that it has such a small footprint - we don't have a lot of space for large toys. My son plays with it constantly, opening and closing the doors, turning the knobs, and ripping out the faucet. Yes, he can remove it easily. It is one of two parts that need to be screwed on by the purchaser as the plastic dowel that holds it on is not up to the job. The other part is the horizontal bar above the sink, as other reviewers have mentioned. Another part that needs attention is the top corner of the oven door. It is a very sharp corner and could benefit from a good sanding to take the edge off.
Assembly is aided by a drill - it took me about two hours, but my toddler was "helping" me, so probably 1-1.5 hours if you can get some time to yourself. Good product for the price.
Also, there is one small difference from the product photo - the oven door handle is vertical, not horizontal and has hinges along the right side - it does not open like a real oven door. You could cause it to if you have the time and inclination.

We looked at many wood / non-pink kitchens for our daughter and decided on this one because it had the right features for the right price. I'm glad we got it. But, my husband cursed a lot while putting it together. Assembling it went well until he got to the doors / hinges. 20/20 hindsight is that he should have gotten the drill out the moment he realized there were no pilot holes. But, he struggled and stripped the tiny screw heads - mostly because our daughter was sleeping and he wanted to avoid the drill noise. He ended up giving up and going back to it the next day with drill in hand.

I would definitely recommend this (especially since I wasn't the one to put it together!) but I would scold the makers for not providing pilot holes for the screws and let all you future purchasers out there know just to plan to use the drill.
