I read the first three Maximum Ride books 10 years ago and only recently discovered that there were more than three. I read the other 6 in 6 days, so this is really a review of the whole series rather than Book 9. It was impossible to put this series down, hence the 5-star rating despite some imperfections. They are fast-paced, full of action and easy to read (note I'm not a young adult). The books have violence and romance but are cleverly written to keep things suitable for a younger audience, although books 8 and 9 are a little more adult than the others. The plots are often pretty thin and there are some unanswered questions and a couple of inconsistencies, but the pace, action, main characters and inventiveness make up for it. I enjoyed the slow burn romance story arc with Max and Fang (I really did not like who Max was around Dylan), and the constant supply of kick-ass fight scenes. I liked the plot thread on climate change but some of it was a bit too preachy for me in the middle books. In my opinion, book 9 is definitely a worthy addition to the series - it finishes things off properly and ties up some loose ends, in a way that book 8 doesn't. Basically, this is an awesome series: don't think too hard and just enjoy the ride.

I have just completed the whole Maximum Ride series, and found the all to be a terrific read.
The biggest problem is, they have now come to an end.
Although the series is aimed at the younger reader, I am a "Senior Citizen", now the wrong side of 70, but I thoroughly enjoyed every one.
Mind you, as with all of JP's books, once you start to read them, they are not easy to put down, and the pages seem to turn themselves,and
lets face it, to read and use your imagination, is a lot better than whats on the tele.
The whole Maximum Ride series I highly recommend, they are well written, extremely enjoyable, and from Amazon a real good price.
Treat yourselves, treat your kids, to a terrific set of books, enjoy, and have fun, you won't regret it.

The final book in the maximum ride series and I am sad to see it over.
Granted no one was expecting this as apparently book 8 was the end.

For anyone who has already read the series I'm sure you do not need to look at a review to consider reading this. For anyone who has just stumbled across this book I would advise starting from the beginning with 'Maximum Ride the angel experiment'.
This book is not the most pleasant of reads and is a real rollercoaster with some jaw dropping moments, however I would advise do not look at a plot overview or even risk accidentally reading potential spoilers. I accidentally read one on amazon before reading this and was gutted. However I was later pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be wrong.

While the book does reach some cheesy realms that remind me of really bad sci fi stories I wouldn't have it any other way!
For anyone who wants something different i can throughly recommend this!
Now to wait for the film!
