Sooo, yea, they're pretty stinky. With that said, I don't find rubber to be a particularly offensive smell. I guess like how some people don't mind the smell of horse manure. Still, the strength of the smell when I opened the box prompted me to take them outside within one minute. And even when I came inside a few minutes later, I felt compelled to take the empty amazon box outside too, as the smell in the house was still pretty intesnse.
They're now resting in the bed of my pickup truck where a good western wind is no doubt carrying the smell to my poor neighbors.
As for the functionality of these chocks- outstanding! They really are grippy (no slippage on concrete or asphault, and built solid.
