Product Description
Michelle (Emma Roberts) was done with the commitmentphobia of her guy Allen (Luke Bracey) and decided that the answer would rest in finally having the long-deferred sitdown with both her folks (Diane Keaton, Richard Gere) and his (Susan Sarandon, William H. Macy). However, with the discovery amongst the parents that they're one another's unknown side affairs, it's going to be a long evening, in writer-director Michael Jacobs' crisp romantic farce. 95 min. - Reviewed in the United States on July 21, 2025This was a sweet film. It felt more like a play than a movie really. Good conversations, good acting. I really enjoyed it.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2023A nice ensemble of actors for what is essentially equivalent to a Broadway play as far as sets. Witty dialogue intermixed among two families brought together by their children wanting to be married but much more involves these families than their children. Not a great movie but a good movie. Enjoy.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2023I could see the 'bones' of the play scenes here - it was like watching a theater play instead of a movie. They missed the mark here to make it better than it was presented, especially considering the seasoned actors they had!
The young couple had no chemistry together at all. And really? We're going to make it about the spoiled young woman stamping her foot and acting like a 2 year old because she's not getting what she wants and she wants to be a wife? Ugh. It's not that women can't want marriage and a family, but the presentation of it was dated plotting, and irritating to watch--perhaps some of that was her acting wasn't convincing. The young man just looked perplexed during the entire movie - lol - and no wonder with all the situations swirling about him including his girlfriend's temper tantrums. But their chemistry together was just not there. It's a wonder, too, that the young man was a well-adjusted as he was with parents like he had. (Also says a lot that I cannot remember their names as they were pretty boring to watch -- it's as if they were there just to set up the situation with the Good Actors).
The rest of the plot was a bit predictable, but there's nothing wrong with predictable when the movie is really good. But this movie just could not quite get there. I really did see the structure of the play - lots of dialogue and staging and blocking of the characters that works really well with a play but not as well with a movie.
And the ending - they took the Susan Sarandon character from where she was as a person (don't want to give spoilers here) to complete turn-around and I found that not so believable.
This movie could have been so much better, so much funnier, so much more poignant and fun to watch, again, especially considering the actors involved.
I was disappointed.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2025Cute.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2023The trailer made this look like it would be funny, but it was not. The 2 older married couples were miserable with each other, one of the affair couples was also miserable & splitting up & the 2nd affair couple were unbelievable & weird. The portrayal of aging was horrible - I'm 70 & I don't know any old people as unhappy as these characters were. Terrible script & the performances by everyone but the young man leery of marriage were bad as well, even with such famous normally great actors. Can't understand why they were willing to be in the movie in the first place. Glad I only rented it but it was still a waste of money. Wish there was a way to get a refund when a trailer is so misleading.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2025Love it
- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2023"Maybe I do" is a waste of time and money. MAYBE I SHOULDN'T have rented it. But, once again I wanted so much for this to be a good movie. But sadly is was not! Boring plot, tired acting and a complete waste of time and money. How Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, Diane Keton and William Macy ever got desperate enough to agree to do this movie I will never understand! They all seemed tired, and slow and not up to their usual performances. But, the plot (if there actually was one) was so dull I was about to fall asleep! I guess the studios will continue to make junk like this- fully well knowing that we cannot request a refund. Sure wish we could!
