Editorial Reviews

Product Description

SFTG released their debut album, Kin, in 1996. It was to prove a landmark release, widely acclaimed, which merged hip-hop, dub, and jazz to catch imaginations worldwide. Since then, a series of releases have helped secure the duo as a force to be reckoned with! SFTG is featured on a stunning new visual game for the iPhone called Entranced, an interactive experience with eye-melting graphics, beautiful visual effects, and innovative game play.

This is a unique SFTG album because at first listen it seems unremarkable, but in reality after repeated listening it actually sounds better and better. When you think about it, wouldn't you rather it be this way than a knock out first listen that you get tired of quickly? Enjoyable stuff!

I must say Nick and Elliot have done it again, Simply Amazing.
I love the order of the songs, its weird, they always seem to line them up perfectly so that when one ends, the transition to the next is perfect.

The reason why I like SFTG soo much is because they can do a little bit of everything and they are excellent at doing what they do,
you can dream, chill, zone out and get all hyped all in the same album,
if you have listened to their previous albums,
you know what i am talking about ;)

Dreamy, Amazing, Tripped Out, Stunned and Relaxed was the order I felt when I listened to it the first time. 50+ cycles later, If I had to choose 2 top songs;
I would say A Thousand Colors and This Land NO DOUBT.

Is it worth buying? lol, OF COURSE ! ! :D
Thank you Nick and Elliot for yet another Classic Album !

Amazing. From start to finish. Never boring and while each track has a distinct character and existence all its own, the album amounts to an incredibly cohesive whole. Brilliant.

I recently got into SFTG. I ended up buying most everything. I like at least 5 or 6 of their albums a whole lot. 3 or 4 I did not care for. It depends on your preference. This album I consider the best or at least in the top 3. I like it because putting it simply it seems to be the most different. If you compare their albums by slow to fast and mix in creativity you'd have to say that the slowest is Ready,Steady,Slow(a chillout album), which has no beats on it. Some of their faster albums like Terra Firma, or High Rising..are far more beat driven and what I would call more listener friendly9or mainstream). This album seems to be one of those album that falls in the middle somewhere. The album is quirkier, while still being rhythmical, it grooves a bit slower and the sounds are somewhat of a departure from the norm SFTG. Yet it still comes across as definitely accessible in every way and to be fair has some of the best dub-electro music ever on it. I just don't get tired of it. So far I'd say The Maze,Tribes,Kin,Widerworld,Ready,Steady,Slow,and Terra Firma are the best all the way through SFTG albums in my opinion, and are my fav's. I've been listening to electronic music since the late 70's (everything from old Tangerine Dream to Coil,Eno,Nurse with Wound,Robert Rich,Future Sounds of London,The Orb..etc..etc) and it takes allot to really impress me nowadays, but SFTG has really become a new love and the Maze is simply a masterpiece of an album.
