FROM THE FIELD—TO YOUR FOOD
Greatness isn’t made, it’s grown by passionate farmers from all over the world. Our commitment to quality means that you can trust the ingredients in every bottle of McCormick Gourmet and that they can help make flavors you love. For example, cinnamon product integrity is managed every step of the way, from source country to your door, by a comprehensive vendor certification quality program. And red pepper seeds must meet McCormick specs to ensure an optimum flavor and consistency.
FROM US—TO OUR FARMERS
Without the farmers, none of this would be possible. We’re dedicated to their success, and that doesn’t just mean the success of their crops. To reach our goal of improving the resilience of the smallholder farming communities in India who grow our five iconic herbs and spices, we will continue to improve their livelihoods, empower women with access to education and skills training, and invest in water purification systems to facilitate clean drinking water.
FROM FARMING—TO OUR FUTURE
The future has to be sustainable, that’s why we’re dedicated to making a measurable impact with how our farms operate. Initiatives to help reduce our environmental impact include supporting farmers in implementing integrated pest management systems and teaching biodynamic farming practices to eradicate the need for chemicals. We’re also working with partners to prevent deforestation by promoting more sustainable land management practices.
Roasted spices have a more intense aroma and slightly nuttier flavor which is a good reason to reach for McCormick Gourmet Organic Roasted Ground Cumin. Its rich flavor and aroma adds depth to Southwestern, Indian and Moroccan dishes. When a recipe calls for roasting and grinding cumin seeds, save a step and use our convenient roasted ground cumin. Its robust, earthy flavor is a must for Indian curries and chutney. Across the Middle East, cumin is an essential seasoning in grilled lamb, fragrant couscous, and roasted or stuffed eggplant. Roasted cumin adds complexity to meatless dishes, from vegetable & bean stews to falafel and hummus. It enhances roasted vegetables, chickpea salad, chili, tacos and spice rubs with toasty warmth.

When I make tacos, I use the Ortega taco mix packets (our favorite), but I'll add a half teaspoon of cumin to it. I also like to sprinkle it over fried eggs. If there are any Mexican-style leftovers, I'll reheat them in the microwave, sprinkle a bit of cumin on a tortilla, and wrap them up. Makes a great breakfast or lunch!
We also like it in the queso dip made with 1 pound of Velveeta and 1 10-ounce can of Rotel tomatoes and chilis. I usually add about a half teaspoon.
I've added it to spaghetti sauce (marinara), meatloaf, meatballs, home made salsa, chicken soup, chicken and dumplings, and, of course, pinto beans!
Give it a try.
