3 tbsp McCormick Caribbean Jerk Seasoning
3 tbsp salad oil
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp cider vinegar
Combine ingredients in a plastic food storage bag and mix until well blended. Add chicken or tuna (the absolute best!) and let marinate. The longer you marinate your protein, the spicier the end result will be. Grill the chicken or tuna, basting with remaining marinade.
This really is a terrific product which makes great jerk marinade. Highly recommended!
i feel in love with the carribian jerk and this is the closest i have found in the states. of course, it depends on how you cook it, but if you start with this spice, you will finish with a winner either way.
When I made my futile call to McCormick, she said they made the change to accommodate the public's desire for healthier food. What? Take a look at some of their other seasoning packets from Taco seasoning to Beef Stew and tell me those are "healthy". Although it tastes nothing like the Vegetable Supreme, a decent alternative is Chef Paul Prudhomme's Vegetable Magic.
I'll go to my grave not understanding why companies continue to try and fix things that aren't broken or discontinue a product that seems to be very popular.
If you have to restrict sodium, and you think that lemon-pepper would go a long way to seasoning without salt, keep looking for another product. This one is chock full of salt.
If you like lemon and pepper together, I suggest buying grated lemon peel and pepper separately, then mixing them yourself. Read the ingredients. Make sure it's only lemon peel, not lemon peel and salt.
