much as I want and I have developed a new apprciation for the natural flavors of unprocessed food. I will update this as time goes on with my process.
The McDougall approach is diametrically opposite. Dr. McDougall advocates feeding the body with veggies, whole grains, natural foods, and other high fiber, high carb, nutrient and bulk (but not calorie) dense foods, and having the body fully consume them, resulting in weight loss because they are easy to burn off, and your body won't convert and store the sugars as fats easily.
The diet certainly sounds and feels better for the body than the bacon and cheese Atkins style, and having been working it for the last week or so, can tell that the food choices are plentiful, but hard to find when eating out. Rarely do you ever feel hungry, and the potato, pasta and low fat food choices seem to make my body happy. There's been no appreciable change in weight over the first week or so, so the jury is out in my mind as to the efficacy of the program.
What I will say is that the foods advocated are the non-processed, natural foods that likely will fuel the body best, and keep us healthiest for the long haul. There may not be maximum weight loss, but there appears to be solid nutrition and tasty food choices in the book.
