- HyperLock leg locks - Each tripod and monopod uses our new HyperLock leg lock design, which is much faster than traditional tripods and monopods that have 9 to 15 leg locks.
- Selfie Stick/Telescoping center column - You can take selfies with the included Bluetooth remote and smartphone adapter. When used as a center column it telescopes for additional height when needed.
- Lightweight - Way less to carry around. MeFOTO Air combines strong and lightweight materials making it possible to create a 2 lb. tripod and a 0.9 lb. monopod.
- Compact size - Fits inside small and medium sized bags. This is due to the unique HyperLock leg system where each leg section is nested into one group.
- Rigidity - Don’t be fooled by the size and lightweight design. MeFOTO Air is as sturdy as they come. The HyperLock leg lock design is actually superior to some traditional tripod leg locks.

The MeFOTO GlobeTrotter Air is a lightweight and compact tripod ideal for smartphones, compact cameras, action cameras, mirrorless and DSLR cameras. GlobeTrotter Air fits inside medium sized bags due to the unique HyperLock leg system where each leg section is nested into one group. Each tripod is available in 7 anodized aluminum finishes: Black, Blue, Green, Orange, Purple, Red and Titanium. Operating the tripod is now faster as well because there is only 1 leg lock per leg instead of multiple locks per leg. A simple half turn unlocks the leg and it can be stopped at any position. The telescoping center column converts to a selfie stick simply by removing the weight hook. Each tripod includes a spring-loaded smartphone adapter and a rechargeable Bluetooth remote with a clamp that attaches to the handle. Tripod bag with carrying strap also included. The dual action ball head features an anodized aluminum housing and can support up to 17.6 lb. payloads. A matching anodized aluminum Arca-Swiss style camera plate with a 3-in-1 screw is included. What can you do with a tripod? A tripod is more than just a tool that keeps your camera steady. When you combine a tripod with your camera or smartphone you open up a world of creative possibilities. The head operates very smoothly to pan, feels dampened. The adjustments are all secure. The bubble level is tiny and correspondingly vague. It gets covered as soon as you mount most anything.
The feet appear to be of a quality rubber, with good grip on smooth surfaces. They don't come off, and there are no spikes for use on grass or dirt.
The fully extended height with the legs out to their regular first detente is enough for someone 6'2" to use a mounted camera viewfinder at eye level. That's better than some other similarly compact tripods I've tried.
The folded size measures just over 12" long by about 5-1/2" across at the widest point.
The selfie stick isn't ideal as those things go, heavier--and with more weight on the far end in particular--than ordinary sticks. But it's usable, and it may actually be more stable than some lighter ones.
It's simple enough that I didn't bother with the instructions, just used a bit of trial and error for a couple minutes.
The designer colors are attractive and will make it hard to lose. Only the parts you see when folded are colored, the rest of the legs and center post are black.
The included black polyester fabric carrying bag is thin and unpadded but more than adequately tough. It includes a pouch sewn in for the selfie stick mounting plate. The carrying "strap" is a thick double cord, not all that comfortable over a shoulder. But you could easily put a should pad or something soft around over the cords.
I do want to remark on a few small negatives of the tripod, but they are slight. First, I feel as though the clip that secures the selfie stick button is not particularly secure, and I have a feeling that at some point I will lose it during a hasty setup/takedown. Second, when using the tripod in its selfie stick mode, it's somewhat cumbersome and nowhere near as easy as a folding selfie stick that I could throw in my bag. The decision to market the selfie aspect might make more sense for the Backpacker and Road Trip versions of the air tripods, but in the Globetrotter it's not as practical or convenient. Lastly, to extend the upper portion of the tripod, I have found that it requires tightening the pan knob first. My concern is that over time the knob will get more relative wear and tear, though I have no reason to suspect at the moment that it might be prone to failure.
All in all this thing feels solid as a rock, folds down incredibly small, and weighs next to nothing for a 68" tripod. I love it and look forward to using it for a very long time.
Caveat 2: the selfie stick feature is just silly. Detaching the center part with the head does give one a selfie stick, but it's pretty heavy and clunky for a true selfie stick (and if you're using a tripod, you might not be a fan of selfie sticks).
Super easy to use, I only had to refer to the manual once: how to remove and reverse the center pole; this is useful for macro photography in being able to mount your camera between the legs of the tripod pointing downward.
I like that it comes with a Bluetooth remote button which I found most useful when using this with my Android cell phone. The necessary head adapter for using with my cell phone (Sony Xperia) comes in a little pouch attached inside the collar of the tripod's main pouch. This really is portable (despite my caveat about weight) and takes up way less space than I expected. The Bluetooth remote button could benefit from some sort of key chain attachment since it just sits holster like in a clip on holder. I'd expect some people (me?) to eventually lose it. That's not a big deal for me at all, but be aware of that.
Also, extending to 68 inches is pretty impressive. I had no problems extending and locking the legs. The tripod's legs are clearly labeled with lock/unlock icons. If you don't properly lock, it will (obviously) not hold the weight of pretty much anything. Twisting in the wrong direction will make you think this is a worthless tripod which it is not. The knobs for locking the ball, pan, and friction setting are also clearly labeled.
This is good enough to use as one's main tripod as well as transporting for on the road use.
