My house is built very tightly and seems to hold onto a lot of humidity, especially during humid temperate weather . Unfortunately, it was built before HRVs were a requirement to help expel the stale humid air that gets caught internally in spring and fall. It doesn't help that I live steps from one of the vastest Great Lakes that adds to this!!!
These Meade sensors, with help of the main Meade tm005x-m display/sensor, make it very easy to monitor the temp/humidity in my house with what's happening outdoors. I have the main sensor on my main level, a second sensor upstairs, a third in the basement and the forth outside away from the sun. If I find the humidity is building up too much I'll hit our upstairs bathroom fan on to help dispel some of the moist air since humid air tends to rise. If the humidity gets really bad I'll turn on a dehumidifier to really control it. If I'm wanting fresh air I can determine if the outside air is going to be within a safe range when it reaches the inside temperature (72 degrees f/21 Celsius) by using a "dew point conversion App" on my phone. What's even more amazing is that with the help of the App I can determine what is the source humidity. This was a God send when I first bought my house since I had no history of the quarks it exhibited in its first years. It really helped determine what was going on since humidity can be very difficult to track, especially in a relatively newer home like mine. It honestly seems like a lot of work, but it's just the nature of my house to which these sensors help immensely. I have found them very accurate and really recommend them 100%.
Seriously if you have a beer fridge put one in, not only is your beer always at its best but your buddies will ask why the temp on the wall is 38°
Beer aside I had the other three for about 4 or 5 years I think and changed the batteries 2x outside one gets rained on still working.
After one week of using them I have to say that I'm very pleased with the purchase. I've tested all 4 units (1 main and 3 sensors) in all the rooms and bathrooms of my house and the differences between them is 0.1 Celsius in temperature and 1% in humidity tops (when they are all placed in the same place). The setup was very intuitive and it took all of them max 20 mins to get the readings aligned. Plus the WiFi connectivity works like a charm even if I have thick concrete reinforced walls between the sensors and the main unit. I recommend this product as it works really nice for indoor use.
