In this second book of the series, the same characters appear, but now we have another brother, Sean Flaherty, a high-powered Chicago lawyer who works in the same firm that Samantha Hayes worked in. He is seriously injured, so he returns to Rivers Edge to recuperate in the family fold. Helping him through recuperation is his friend since childhood, Megan Mackenzie. They have always shared a special bond; and yes, you see it coming, but oh how lovely is the story as the romance unfolds.
The author is a wonderful writer, one who is able to instill suspense, a strong plot, and romance and make it all come together in a most delightful way. It's rare when an author can take a familiar concept in romance and give it fresh twists and new energy!
I am looking forward to her third book in this series, when one of the remaining two Flaherty brothers will be sure to find romance in Rivers Edge.
When Sean gets shot on the courthouse steps by a client's ex, he needs to come home to rest and recuperate. His best friend, Megan, has always been there for him throughout his life. I liked seeing how the two of them, Sean and Megan, gradually worked their "best friend" status into a romantic relationship. They didn't plan it, it just happened over time! It's always a fun trope!
I also loved the "second stories" of the other characters going on. It was just a fun book and I loved reading it! I can't wait for the next book in the series!
The hero calls the heroine "bellissimo" - that's a masculine form of the word. Did you mean bellissima? or did the hero speak a nonstandard dialect of Italian?
Other than that, I loved the book.
He should miss Chicago, and he doesn’t. When he wakes up in the hospital in Chicago his best friend Megan Mackenzie is there.
He starts have feelings for her. Does she feel the same? He sure hopes she does.
Buy the book to see what happens between these two.
