About Meccano
For over a century, Meccano has been a leading producer of imaginative construction sets for children. The company arose from humble origins in 1898, when English inventor Frank Hornby created the first Meccano construction kit for his sons. In 1913, an American company called Erector began manufacturing a similar toy, the Erector Set. Today, the two companies have united under a single, internationally renowned name--Meccano--and remain committed to empowering the next generation of makers. From basic building toys to high-tech robotics kits, Meccano products are designed to inspire the imagination and foster a lifelong enthusiasm for STEM learning.

We've played the don't-get-squirted game a few times and the kids have driven him around the apartment but since then he's largely sat on a table. They've been away for a few weeks and they've both said they're looking forward to playing with him again when they get back. Maybe they just want to try to terrorize the cat. (She's too smart for them and runs as soon as she hears the spider turn on.)
The first time we tried to run the app we had a slow internet connection and it kept timing out before it could download what it needed for the spider. Going back to civilization fixed that, but Meccano should make the application more resilient and not require it to download everything or nothing, forcing it to start from scratch every time.
You'll want to recheck the screws pretty often as they tend to work themselves loose when he's walking.
The only problem with the programming was that we had difficulty after downloading the app, but due to time constraints we didn't try very hard, so not sure if it actually works or not.
