Feels like the real deal.

I really didn't expect a mechanical keyboard to be good for $40, but I needed something small and wanted to give this a shot.

The keyboard feels surprisingly solid. While the under case is mostly plastic, it doesn't bend nor does it feel weak. In fact, the plastic feels solid as well. The upper body looks and feels like metal. It might not be, but it feels very solid and smooth. Definitely an A for build quality. The keyboard resembles corsair's in that the switches lay on top of the body. They key caps definitely feels cheaper than the rest of the body. the lettering isn't laser etched or anything, so it feels like it'll wear out in a while. Not really a big deal for me. Still, the caps feels nice to type on.

This Qisan keyboard uses the OUTEMU brown switches. I've owned a lot of mechanical keyboards and I can assure you that this feels like the real deal. It sounds mechanical and it feels like a lot of cherry mx keyboards that I've used. Comparing this to the Logitech g710, which uses actual cherry mx brown, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference if I was blindfolded. The sound and feeling is just as satisfying with the convenience of a small portable keyboard. Definitely worth it!

Some few things to keep in mind. This keyboard does not feature n-key rollover. In fact, it supports, in my findings, 6 key rollover only in the asdjkl configuration. No backlit in this model except for the caps lock, which has a greenish back lighting to know if its on.

I encountered a bug where sometimes 3 inputs wouldn't even register. I was simultaneously pressing shift, w, and a and I had to press a again because the keyboard for some reason didn't register the a. It has happened a few times, but not always. Not sure why this is happening. It happened rarely so not a big deal breaker for me yet.

However, I still stand by the build quality. I've thrown it into my bag carelessly several times and not a single dent as of yet.

There is a video if anyone cares about how it sounds.

It is exactly what is advertised as. The off-brand MX clones feel really nice. It's not the most solid mechanical keyboard I've ever used and the font on the keys are a little derpy (I've since replaced the keycaps with an aftermarket set), but at this price point, who can complain?

A real mechanical keyboard for less than forty bucks

First things first. If you have read about these MagicForce keyboards you have probably read about the DIP switches that let you reconfigure certain functions (like disabling the Windows key or swapping the Windows & FN keys). Well, this $39 lower priced model does NOT have the DIP switches! That seems to only be on the more expensive backlit models. I suppose it's my bad for not noticing the DIP switch feature was missing, so I'm not docking any stars for that. Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else missed it.

My previous (full sized) keyboard has Cherry MX Black switches. They are linear switches that require a firmer press to actuate. I've often wondered if I'd prefer tactile switches, but I hate excessively noisy keyboards, so Brown (tactile, non-clicky) switches seemed like something I'd like to try. By comparison, the browns aren't as heavy as the blacks, and this keyboard with OUTEMU Brown Mechanical switches is a noticeably louder than my Deck Legend with Cherry Blacks. I can't really say how much of that is attributed to the switches, and how much is due to the keyboard's construction. The deck has an enclosed design, so I popped the top bezel off to expose the switches to see if it made much of a difference in noise, and it did not. This does seem to indicate the OUTEMU Browns are louder (although not as loud as the Cherry Blue).

All in all, though, it has a nice feel. It's hard to believe you can get a real mechanical keyboard for under forty bucks, but you can!

I only just received it today, so it's a bit early for a definitive conclusion, but my first impression is that I prefer the firmer, linear black switches.

Switch preference, of course, is entirely subjective. As is keyboard layout. The small size seemed like a novel idea, but only time will tell if I can get used to the four row TKL configuration. I am quite impressed with it so far. It's definitely an easier transition than, say, a laptop keyboard, since it is the same as a full sized keyboard for the keys you will use most of the time. To use the F-keys (F1-F12) you will have to press the FN key. Not a difficult thing to get used to, but it would be nice to be able to swap the FN and Windows keys (which you can do on the backlit models with DIP switches).

If this keyboard appeals to you at all, I'd say grab one. You really can't go wrong for forty bucks. If you want backlit keys and DIP switch configuration (disable Windows key, swap Windows and FN, swap left control and caps lock), that's only twenty bucks more,

Pleasantly surprised sums up this board. Here is what I was looking for prior to this purchase: A sub $50 board, switches other than blues, tenkeyless or near 60%, removeable USB cable. This board hit those marks for me. The primary use of this board is for an office environment. I have another far more expensive board for my personal use, but wanted a board I would feel fine putting really heavy use on, traveling with, etc. So let's roll through some Pros/Cons:

Pros:
- Pricepoint is excellent
- Board is fairly solid, nice metal faceplate
- Removeable USB cord
- Plenty of useful FN keystrokes
- Minimalist design. Just looks good.
- Rubber feet keep the board planted.
- Very similar feel to Cherry MX Browns. Good tactile feel and spring rate. Quiet enough for most office use.

Cons:
- Plastic backplate makes this a less hefty board. Would have been great if it was metal all around. Can have some flex. I also think the plastic and Outemu key combo makes the board a little echoy when typing.
- Keycaps and the design don't look the most pleasing (in my opinion).
- Some potential qualify control issues. Had to return the first board due to a broken tab key.

Overall, I'm very pleased. Hopefully the Outemu keys will last an acceptable timeframe compared to more expensive options such as Gateron, Cherry, etc.

At ~$40, this is a huge bargain. If it were to begin approaching $50, I might look elsewhere. I hope to change out the keyset in the near future to make this an even better board.
