The exquisite Seiko SARB033 is powered by the premium Seiko 6R15 caliber self-winding movement that can also be hand wound and hacked. It is the same caliber that powers most of the Seiko Prospex line of watches. The movement has a generous 50 hour power reserve. The case has a fine brushed finish and the black dial sports luminous hands and silvertone hour markers. A date display is shown at the 3 o'clock position. The stainless steel bracelet has a deployant clasp with a dual push-button release. A scratch resistant sapphire crystal is used along with an exhibition back that allows you to view the movement in action. Water resistant 100 meters. This is definitely a luxury range watch that is available at an affordable price. An excellent timepiece for sure. As far as function, mine runs a little fast at 5 seconds per day the first couple of days, it then settled to about 2 seconds per day there after. I will update in month.
Amazon delivered the watch quick and in a sealed plastic wrap indicating the watch is new direct from the factory. There is a small piece of paper inside the presentation box indicating that it's a JDM watch. The price here at Amazon is the best I can find, SeiyaJapan, LongIslandwatch, CreationWatches can not match the price or delivery time. I could not be happier. Highly recommended.
**Also a note on WHICH STORE to purchase it from... The first time around my watch was purchased from a store called "ULTRA-FAST CENTER" (but fulfilled by Amazon). When I received the watch, the box was clearly already opened and when I opened it the watch wasn't even secured onto the pillow (SEE PHOTO). It was just flopping around in the box and the protective film stickers were already taken off. There were scratches on the watch already as well. I must have gotten a returned watch and they failed to check it and they just shipped it out again to another customer (me). So I returned it and bought from "PEP JP"... HIGHLY recommend. The watch came FACTORY SEALED in plastic, so I absolutely new I was getting a brand new import straight from the factory in Japan. Buy from them if you can!!
The size of this watch dial is 38mm. To me, this is perfect. The trend is for all men's watches to be 40+ mm, but this is a more restrained design, and I think it strikes just the right balance between my 36mm Rolex Datejust, which is a bit on the small side for my 7" wrist, and the 41mm Datejust II, which I think is too large for a classic design face such as this one (or the Datejust).
Unlike many more expensive watches, the SARB033 contains a reliable, accurate automatic movement made in house (by Seiko). I take pride in this fact. It's more special to me than a similarly priced Swiss or German watch sporting the same ETA movement as scores of other watches from other brands.
I've heard it said that this watch has a bit of the essence of Grand Seiko (GS) in it, and I definitely see that. It's not a hi beat, and it doesn't have a Spring Drive, nor is it finished to the level of a GS, but then again it costs $400, not $7k.
I still love my other watches, but this gets the most wrist time of them all. Highly, highly recommended.
