Bought gloves about a year and a half ago from a small town mom & pop sporting goods place. I don't keep the receipts for stuff like this because it's just stupid. I have maybe worn these 20 times mountain biking and they are in perfect condition. Except the last month (maybe 7 wears) the Velcro progressively started to not close. Now they don't close at all but snag on everything else.
I take a few pics from every angle and the straps. I email that & a preemptive apology and explanation that I don't have a receipt and when I bought them. What I'd really like is maybe if they had a solution how to repair the Velcro. Who knows maybe they have some super high-tech way to fix hook and loop fastener.
Response I get from customer service is they point out that I don't have a receipt. The gloves in the pics i sent are in older design. Their warranty is for 90 days. I didn’t get any help or an answer to my question. Somehow, I needed to be made aware of the facts (which I had provided so as to not give the impression I wanted something). Im told in a smug sentence that if I only had proof they were purchased at the current original price, then the manager could replace them.

I never asked for a replacement.
I never asked them to be repaired.
I asked in a cool and funny way also included pictures of what they look like because I knew that they were older.

What they could do is give me a 15% discount towards a new pair. So I decide to take a look at the site, where I see this. "Sign up for our online newsletter and take 10% off your purchases right now". I mean who wouldn't feel they appreciate your business as your looking at the gloves which just exploded? 5% towards a much needed upgrade so you can show them the proof you'll need when these fail (but only for 89 days)

I bought these in preparation for the Rolex 24 at Daytona because I needed a glove that was fire-resistant and versatile enough to use for other tasks at the track. They are leather lined with Carbon-X on the palm and most of the fingers and mostly Carbon-X on the back of the hand. Unfortunately, their durability fell far short of what was required for the pits. The seams between the plain Carbon-X and leather/Carbon-X in the thumb area came apart after roughly 10 hours of use. It was not the stitching that broke; the Carbon-X material simply tore. It seems to be much too thin for the application. I do not feel that I was abusing these gloves in any way; most of what I was doing was moving tires around. I have a one inch tear on each thumb and a smaller tear on the heel area of the glove (below the thumb). I will be contacting Mechanix on this. Other than the durability issues, the gloves are very nice. If you will be using these rarely or gently they are fine gloves. If you are a race mechanic you will be lucky to get one weekend out of them.

I actually use these mostly for when I go camping. They protect my hands when I go to move the wood around in the fire. Before I got these I kept burning my fingers, not anymore. When they wear out I will buy another pair.

I am an ag pilot, and I've always worn nomex gloves while flying. Problem is, I generally wear out a couple of pair in a season of hard flying. I've never liked the fact that the palm of the glove only has leather, and no nomex underneath between the leather and the skin of my hands. So, I started looking for an alternative this year. I wanted something with very good resistance to heat and flame, but also something with a short cuff, unlike the gauntlet style of the military gloves. I ran across the Mechanix Wear CarbonX gloves and they appeared to have everything I was looking for. So far, they have not dissapointed. They are comfortable, even on hot days. The fit is superb, and the glove appears to be very well made. It remains to be seen how they hold up through the entire flying season, but so far, I am very satisfied!
