The price for the Medeco locks on Amazon thru Mylockstore blew me away!! In fact I bought 2 deadbolts and messaged Mike to have 1 key to use for both locks. But have a total of 4 keys made for me.
That being said, Mike has great customer service skills and went beyond to help me with my order.
For the people who think this price is to good to be true? I say go for it! It's the real deal!! The locks are solid and I am really happy with my purchase!!
Also i used to have a job where I had to pack and ship fragile items. So I know really good "safe" for the product packing. Whoever packed the locks in the shipping box takes pride in there work. I take notice in these things. Above having a job as a pack and ship. I used to work at the post office too. I worked with parcels as well as letter class mail. So i know how the parcels should be packed for shipping. Whoever packed this box knew what they were doing. Plus I live in Hawaii and the box arrived unscathed!!
If any of my friends is in need of a quality deadbolt I will not hesitate and say buy it from Mike at Mylockstore on Amazon!! He's the best!!
Aloha Mike! Thanks for the great customer service!! You're the best!!
** I like to add i didn't do the install. When the box arrived I opened it to see how it looked. Whoa!! A little bit to much parts and it looked way to complicated. I'm no locksmith so i hired a locksmith to do it for me. Needless to say he did easy work with the 2 deadbolts. Less then half an hour and he was done. But he was so impressed with the quality of the deadbolt he says he wants to get one for his home. When i told him how much I paid he couldn't believe it!
*Update on 6/2020 my Medeco high security lock.
No problems thus far. Also i read people saying you cannot get spare keys made. This is true and false. You cannot go to any locksmith to get your duplicate keys. Go back to the locksmith you bought your locks from. I just did and ordered more keys. I also read somebody broke their medeco key in their deadbolt?!! My question is, How the hell he did that??!! That medeco key is the strongest key on my key ring. Its nearly impossible to break. Did he open his door this way... used the key to open the door then some how attach a breaker bar to unlatch the deadbolt and force it open? Like i said, nearly impossible to break the key. If you just want to open your lock. You would have to put so much pressure its like you want to break it.
The "Freedom" line of deadbolts includes an identity card that is required to have duplicate keys made. If I had the card, I could drive 60 miles to the nearest Freedom dealer to have a duplicate key made. If I can't locate the card, I need to pay $45 to Medeco first, and send in the bent key in order to get a new ID card issued, after which I get to drive 60 miles to the nearest Freedom dealer to have a key made. Total cost: 3 hours of time, $14 for the key, and $75 labor fee -- $90 total, for a "free warranty replacement" plus maybe that $45 fee to re-issue the card. Thanks a ton, Medeco!
Before buying this lock, confirm that there is a Freedom-approved locksmith within your town. If you live in a bigger city, with local dealer support, this is a fine choice for a deadbolt. (Put the ID card in a safe place, and consider registering your lock with Medeco too.) If you live in a rural area, RUN AWAY from this lock series. Contact a local locksmith instead. Because despite the "lifetime warranty" on the keys and 2 year warranty on the lock, Medeco's policies are so poor that the cost of replacing the entire lock is LOWER than the cost of executing a warranty claim.
PROS: Heavy well-made lock. Duplicates difficult to make. Doesn't respond to a master key. Security, as good as it gets.
CONS: Cost and cost of installation.
OVERALL: Totally worth the peace of mind.
