Mediabridge™ 3.5mm Stereo Audio Cable
Connect & play music from your Smartphone, tablet & MP3 player to a car stereo, portable speaker or other 3.5mm stereo audio output. This cable supports devices containing a standard 3.5mm auxiliary jack, which are commonly associated with headphones/ear buds. Many of today's audio components have this input for easy hookups. Unlike wireless transmitters & cassette adapters, it provides a direct wired connection that's free of static/FM interference. Dual-shielding, polished metal molding & corrosion-resistant gold-plated plugs deliver crisp sounds & minimal signal loss. A compact, beveled step-down design gives a firmly secure connection, even when bulky cases are on your device. You can even charge your devices while in use (separate cable required). You’re just a plug-in away from rocking out to your music, listening to a movie or relaxing to an audio-book.
- Connects & plays music from 3.5mm-enabled devices to a car stereo/speaker

So, I bought this in 2013 and I'm writing my review in 2016. I ended up back on the page not because I need to replace the cable, but because I keep grabbing the one I have from my vehicle and using it elsewhere, then forgetting to put it back in the car! The cable is still in great condition, very minimal visual impact from having a lid slammed on it almost every day for 3 years. There has been zero loss of sound quality, no kinks in the cable, etc.
You've found the droid (cable) you've been looking for, trust me.
COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER.... downgrading from 5 STARS to 2 STARS
1) The (nice-looking) black casing covering the jack has come out on one end &
2) The cable keeps falling off my headphones (my other cables do not have this issue).
(A beautiful cable with build quality that unfortunately does not match)

Six months from the date of purchase seems like a long enough period to provide adequate information about how this auxiliary cable has fared. I bought it with a set of Altec Lansing VS2621 computer speakers so I could connect my laptop or iPhone to play music in my apartment.
It looks nice, but the gold plating is poor quality and starts to wear away after a few months of use. The construction of the cable seems stiff enough throughout the body, and I use the standard method of rolling speaker cables to extend its life, but the jacks on either end were not engineered for long term use. After four months of careful use, I experienced the problem of audio only coming through one side of the stereo signal. Moving the cable strategically allowed the other channel to come through again, but this is a sign that the cable has degraded near the jack, where the cable bends as gravity pulls it down. Perhaps L-shaped jacks would have fared better, but I did not expect to see this level of deterioration already beginning in the 4-6 month window.
Every audio jack has plastic spacers that separate each contact (L/R/g) from the other. The spacers used on this particular unit have begun to burn (not sure how else to describe it) from the electric current, leaving black residue on the jacks, and wearing away. This is so advanced on one end of the cable that today a small piece of the spacer ring fell off. I fear it will not last much longer and I am wary of possible damage to my speakers and audio devices because of this defect.
I do not recommend this brand. There are better brands of audio cables available and I am now going to order one of those because I am deeply dissatisfied with my Mediabridge cable.

Update: January 26, 2013
Mediabridge sent a replacement that I received this morning (very quick shipping). I have amended my rating to account for their customer service, adding two stars to the original one star. It would be better if the first cable had not failed at all, but good service brings up my rating to three stars.
I intend to update this review in six months (the lifespan of the original defectivce cable) as a way of reporting on the condition of the replacement.
Update: November 29, 2013
The replacement cable has served well over the past several months and does not exhibit the problems I experienced in the first one. I am adding a star for the reliability of the replacement. I am also amending the title of my review. Thank you.
One of things I noticed right away when inserting the cable was that it didn't require an excessive amount of force to insert it into the audio jack. I really love that because my Asus Xonar DG PCI dedicated audio card is highly sensitive to any movement. For instance, if I remove the audio cable and it moves the card a bit, it disconnects the audio card and Windows no longer detects it. Then I'd have to remove and install the audio card which is in a pain in the butt. Now, this is soley a problem with the Asus Xonar DG audio card, but it takes care of my issues with it.
Build Quality: Excellent build quality. Comes neatly packaged with covers for the tips of the audio cable and in a nice sleeve bag. Cables do not tangle which is a huge plus for me and a good sign that this was made with high quality parts. The cable feels just right. No tension. Contrary to belief that wires are alive and have a mind of their own. Which I sometimes believe when I justify why cable wires get tangled. Yes, I'm looking at you Audio Technica headphones. Makes me want to go wireless. But I can't have that! Gotta go hard cable or go home.
For only $5.29, it's a steal. I'll always buy Mediabridge from now on. I've tried many other brands and they don't quite hit the quality of Mediabridge. I've tried everything from cheap RadioShack cables, Anker, and so forth. As of writing, I already plan on purchasing a few more.
