This book is well documented, well done and well organized, easy to consult, but unfortunately getting a little old. The pharmacognosy is well summarized and some explanations are the best I have ever read about certain chemicals. Unfortunately, one can see that it reflects the pharmaceutical preoccupation and focus of the sixties and seventies.
It is unfortunate that the anthropological data is so scant, mostly about the way the different ethnic nations use the plants medicinally. The focus is definitely what one can extract frome these plants for its potential use in pharmacy.
For my own research, this book was nevertheless a must, and it still remains a great, fundamental and essential book. If all books on medicinal plants were that well made, life would be so easier...
