Others have commented on her indepth knowledge and understanding of medieval medicine and the text justifies their evaluations. The book does inspire one to further study if one is inclined to such endevours. Even with just this book, one's understanding of medieval medicine is greatly enhanced.

This is my first book on the subject. Even though I cannot obviously compare it to other similar books, I can truthfully say that if this is your first book, it is well worth paying full price if you are so inclined. It is thorough, thoughtful, inspired, and quite easily read. It is scholarly without academic pomp and a wonderful read.
