Meditation for Beginners is a great guide for anyone wondering why they should meditate, what meditation is and isn't, and to learn about different styles of meditation, so that they can choose a meditation style that best suits them. Clear, well-written, easy to read. I became more relaxed and more meditative just reading the book! I like how simple the author makes everything. If you want a book with great meditation basics, that makes it so easy you know that even you can try meditation, this is the one to get.

I was always one of those impatient types, who preferred to scream at the heavens, "Why ME???" rather than sit cross-legged on the floor and listen to my mind scream at me. Well, at least until I learned a better way. This book is generous in ideas, and the author is generous in spirit. What a great combination!

Whoa, this was a timely book. For some reason, reading Beth Banning’s description of the religions that use meditation, the different types of meditation and the science behind meditation made me feel motivated to try meditation again. Having just worked all weekend, I think it will really help me feel better. Her common sense attitude combined with examples and scientific results makes it almost a no-brainer to start meditating (no pun intended).

So here's what I did. I searched on YouTube for meditation music, then I used the first technique that Beth recommends in the book (which I have never heard of before, and I'm a psychologist who used to use hypnosis). I wrote a word, in my mind on a piece of paper. Then I felt I was diving with the dolphins in sapphire blue water, looking for my word on the paper. I felt very deeply relaxed, the more I swam around effortlessly. I found the piece of paper and was just starting to read my word clearly when the music ended. I. FEEL. FANTASTIC. I'm going to do this at least once a day. Why did I wait so long?

I already meditate but not as much as I would like to. I thought this book might inspire me to implement a daily meditation practice. I bought it because it said it would answer my biggest meditation questions and give me some simple to do meditations. Well it did just that. Reading through the beginning of the book I was reminded why I started meditating in the first place and it gave me just the inspiration I was looking for. I also love the meditations this book offers. Great reminders! Now let me get back to meditating…

This little E-book will answer every question a new meditator will have about beginning their practice.
I appreciate its simplicity. It is a fast and easy read and very informative on the history, benefit, and technique of meditation. I loved the variety of practices offered, mantra, visualization, candle, zen buddhist. What a beautiful comprehensive book to get you started to more peace in your life.

I have a fast-paced schedule with a lot of deadlines, and struggle with controlling my blood pressure. I knew that I had to be aware of taking time to relax and slow my mind and body (and blood pressure) down, but wasn't sure how to go about doing that. Beth Banning's book was perfect for being introduced to the world of meditation, and helped answer all of the questions I had about it. It was very thorough, and bridged the gap between me knowing nothing about meditation other than closing my eyes and breathing deep, to really maximizing it's beneficial aspects to my mind and body.
