Great overall product that has really helped me, especially in relaxing enough to get a great night's sleep. Recently used it before having a tooth extracted and the product was key in helping me dramatically lower my anxiety and stress level before and during the procedure (had headphones on and played the imagery during the procedure). Thank you, thank you, thank you! I highly recommend! April 2012 --Elizabeth (reprinted from Health Journeys website)

A friend let me borrow their copy to help my recovery from a recent surgery. I never expected it to be so effective so quickly. I'm ordering a copy for myself as the effect is more profound each time I listen, I want to return her copy. I'm definately sold on, and grateful for, the concept of guided imagery. May 2007 --Carol (reprinted from Health Journeys website)

One of the most powerful tools I have to ease anxiety and melt away stress! I love this CD. I've used all 4 exercises. The affirmations help the most because, even when I'm too stressed to do guided imagery, I can listen to them while doing something benign. Also the walking meditation is helpful when I just can't sit still! I can't thank Bellaruth enough! Sept 2006 --Tammy (reprinted from Health Journeys website) --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

About the Author

Belleruth Naparstek, LISW, BCD Psychotherapist, author and guided imagery pioneer Belleruth Naparstek is the creator of the popular Health Journeys guided imagery audio series. Her first book, Staying Well with Guided Imagery (Warner) is a widely used primer on imagery and healing. Her second book, Your Sixth Sense (Harper Collins) has been translated into 9 languages and called one of the most thoughtful and sophisticated looks at imagery and intuition. Her latest book on imagery and posttraumatic stress, Invisible Heroes: Survivors of Trauma and How They Heal (Bantam Dell), won the Spirituality & Health Top 50 Books Award. Highlighted in the 20th anniversary edition of their seminal book, Courage to Heal, Ellen Bass and Laura Davis call Invisible Heroes, the most useful book for trauma survivors to be published in the last decade . As Prevention Magazine noted, she has been quietly creating an underground revolution among mainstream health and mental health bureaucracies, by persuading major institutions such as the U.S. Veteran s Administration, the U.S. Dept of Defense, Kaiser Permanente, Blue Shield of California, United Health Care, Oxford Health Plan, scores of pharmas and nearly 2000 hospitals and recovery centers to distribute her guided imagery recordings, in many instances free of charge to recipients. Recently she has been developing military-friendly resources with the help of the U.S. Army and the Ft. Sill Resiliency Center, and DCoE (Defense Centers of Excellence) has declared guided imagery one of their Twelve Promising Practices. Her audio programs have been involved in over two dozen clinical trials, with nearly a dozen studies completed to date. Efficacy has been established for several psychological and medical challenges, most recently for military sexual trauma and combat stress at Duke University Medical Center/Durham Veterans Administration Hospital. Naparstek received both undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Chicago. She maintained her psychotherapy practice for over 30 years and for several years taught graduate students at The Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, Case Western Reserve University. Earlier in her career, she supervised psychiatry residents at Cambridge Hospital/Harvard Medical School and was Chief of Consultation & Education at the Woodburn Center for Community Mental Health in Fairfax County, VA. She also did a brief stint as a musical comedy actress at Second City and The Tip Top Tap of the Allerton Hotel in Chicago, and says that her musical comedy skills sometimes come in handy for teaching. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

When I first bought this (and other specific versions by Belleruth Naparstek - sleep, stress and general wellness), I was very skeptical. I didn't think anything was going to help me (especially not some stranger talking to me on a CD). Couldn't have been more wrong. This CD works every time. Each time I listen to one of Belleruth's CDs, I become visibly, physically more relaxed (I'm usually snoring in la-la-land bliss before the CD ends). Highly recommend all of her CDs.

I would recommend this to anyone that needs a few moments to help them find some calm in their life. The affirmations are great while driving to and from work. I found them to be very soothing the more I listened.

I am going through a pretty rough time right now. I had listened to this doctor's cassette tapes years ago and thought I would give them a try again. To my amazement, I was so relaxed after listening to especially CD #1 that I felt like I could get through anything. I wasn't sure if it would work to relax me and can tell you that it did relax me more than I could have imagined. I HIGHLY recommend this or any of the Health Journeys CDs. I have the Healthful Sleep CD and was skeptical. Again, I am amazed at the nice peaceful sleep that I get.

Within the first five minutes of relieve stress, I felt more compassion for myself than I ever have in my life. It was beyond meditation and awareness. I felt whole, loved, and cared for by myself which I have always struggled with. I strongly recommend this to anyone who feels drained, overwhelmed or broken. It is like a balm to the soul.

This is an excellent CD. I am a Mental Health Therapist by Trade, and I have recommended this CD to a number of my patients. This is where most mental health healing begins, and that is simply by meditating and quieting the mind. I have used this myself, and it genuinely works, and gives you tools that you can implement in all areas of your life.

I've been playing Disc #1 almost every night (with "Repeat" button on). Talk about soothing! I let it play softly all night. Even my dogs love it and are calmed by it. Disc #2 doesn't work for me, however. I love Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, but that's about it.

This is a poor CD set in almost every way, and very expensive compared to its competition. There are two CDs. The first CD starts out with instructions and information about guided imagery and goes on for about then minutes. This is what you will hear EVERY time you play the CD. This isn't a separate track that can be skipped. So, on every occasion that you go to your Relieve Stress CD, you will sit through this introduction. To say this is annoying and a really stupid way to set up a CD that is supposed to be listened to over and over again is an understatement. And guess what? The second CD starts the same way. Not the same words, but another introduction as to how to use the CD. Didn't these people ever read a book? An introductory pamphlet with the necessary information should have been included, instead of placing this information onto the CD. By the way, there is a pamphlet inside the CD case, but it is a four page fold over about the author's products.

The guided imagery section is another letdown. Some reviewers say her voice is soothing, however I do not think it is soothing in the least, in fact it is downright annoying. I found myself mentally arguing with the author while I listened. Ms. Naparstek pronounces her consonants in a "hard" fashion, especially starting words. This often makes a speaker easier to understand, but it isn't soothing. After awhile it is rasping. Unfortunately, the CD does not include a sample for the customer to listen to prior to purchase. Here on Amazon I can listen to a 30 second sample of a song before I buy it, but I cannot listen to a sample of this CD. I wonder why it was not set up this way? Was Ms. Naparstek trying to disguise the fact that her voice is bothersome?

This is an Awsome CD that I purchased USED. It came in very good condition and I really enjoy the author. There is something about the tone of her voice that really sticks. It has helped me tremendously. My therapist recommended it to me.
