I will use this book as a launch pad if I'm drawing a blank for dinner, but I wanted to savor the pages as I would a tasty meal. At least if I burn my brussel sprouts, I won't feel compelled to wander out into traffic.
First, some recipes say to use the "Bake" or "Roast" function on the air fryer. Well, I have the Ninja Dual Basket 4 in 1, which does not have a "Bake" function. I've spent far too much time Googling this to see which function to use as an alternative but learned the hard way that you cannot substitute "Air Fry" for a recipe in this book that calls for "Bake," as my stuffed peppers came out like hard, dry meatballs with burnt goat cheese on top. Perhaps "Roast" or "Reheat" would work, but that's another experiment I'll have to try. Because this book did not say it included recipes for air fryers with specific functionality, I was unaware that I may not be able to make all of these recipes in the air fryer. Yes, I can make them in the oven, but that's not the point of the book. I do not think recipes that require special functionality that is not included on every air fryer should be included without an appropriate disclaimer to that effect.
Similarly, my second issue is that some recipes require use of a casserole dish to insert in the air fryer. Again, the baskets on my air fryer are not large enough to hold casserole dishes. Therefore, there are a number of recipes I can't try, as my air fryer is not conducive to these requirements.
Overall, while I enjoy the book as a whole, there are a handful of recipes that sound great that I may not be able to try based on the model of air fryer I have. I think this book should come with a disclaimer that the recipes are specific to a particular size/version of an air fryer and/or require certain functionality. Assuming these issues are addressed, I'd love to see a second book with more recipes, as there really are some great, easy recipes here.
