Editorial Reviews

"Since Akron/Family's March '05 debut, the band has played hundreds and hundreds of shows across the known world, recorded a split album with Angels of Light (serving as backing band on the flipside of the disc), cut a few home-brewed albums to sell on the road, and generally worked themselves to death -- or at least into some new unrecognizable entity. And now this: a special, budget-priced album, over thirty-five minutes long, that shows them morphing yet again, into something comfortably unfamiliar, by turns wild, gentle, raging, hilarious, elated, meditative and sometimes simply beautiful.

This cd can't even compare to Akron/Family's self-titled debut, but that's not to say it's horrible. Some of the songs have grown on me and if you're a fan of this band, I'd recommend trying it out. They become a lot more experimental and sound like they just recorded themselves jamming on this album.

great, if short ep, more experimental than some of their other stuff, it does sound as if they just recorded themselves jamming, but thats not necessarily a bad thing. this ones my personal favorite, but not the best place to start with akron/family's music. some of the songs have harsh, feedback parts that might not sit well with some fans of this type of music, but again, i think it fits well.fans of more "out there" folk will enjoy this, others should buy their self titled full length. see them live, they will even let you tape their live shows.

After a genius first album, Meek Warrior has ended up as a lot of hippie-babble... it may work if you are on psychedelic drugs, but this is just boring.

One would almost gloss over every band who claims themselves a quasi-religious/indie-experimental band. This is not one of those you should skip.

Every track on this album is virtually flawless and brings you on journeys you would have only guessed would have happened in your LSD-stated 1960's conciousness. Perhaps "Meek Warrior" only brings it out in us.

My favorite Akron/Family album is "Love is Simple." My second favorite is their debut album. I think both of those are a bit less polished than their subsequent albums and more aggressively psychedelic. This one is similar in feeling to those, if a little spacier; not surprising, I think it came out between those two. Some of the songs remind me of Syd Barrett ("Gone Beyond" in particular). Others threaten to swerve into a kind of beautiful industrial thrash. Meek Warrior is short, but it's really good.
