I can't believe this book was called Meet Cute. Two people die tragically and a little girl is left parentless and the title is Meet Cute? I have been a faithful Helena follower, but this I couldn't stand. The heroine is petty and vindictive. I could barely like her. And the naughty times.... Is the the same author who conjured up the Super MC?
Don't package a tragedy as a romance. Have publishers sunk so low to slap this at us and call it a funny rom-com. Respect your readers. Just because we like romance doesn't mean we are airheads.
The real tragedy is now they are charging $6 bucks for a 300 page book because it's a Helena Hunting story.
Nothing CUTE about this

I had been anticipating this book for a long time and was ridiculously disappointed. First of all the cover and blurb give off the a strong romantic comedy vibe but this story was anything but. Heavy subject matter surrounding death and honestly just a boring relationship between to characters that seemed to have little chemistry.

It feels like we waited a very long time for this to be released. I'm sad to say that I'm completely underwhelmed by it.
The story seemed to drag on. There should have been more moments from their time in college, something cute and lightweight.
I didn't really care for Dax. He constantly lashed out, and he really made an arse of himself in chapter 24.
Kailyn, she became a self appointed doormat. Yes, she should have come clean about the deal, but she should not have blamed herself for Dax's behavior when he found out.
Proof reading errors, changes to the previously stated details were missed more than once.
Overall, I wanted a little more spark. A little more levity. A lot more connection between the mains.

Well, I guess she couldn't call the book "two people die at the beginning and the rest of the novel is everyone talking about them."
The cover and title suggest a rom-com, the kind of book Helena Hunting excels at. But this is a real turn of plot and intent I think on her part.
I don't begrudge an author changing, or perhaps should we say evolving, in style and genre. I've seen it often enough. I too would get bored writing the same love story, no matter how satisfying for fans. Remember way back when, when Linda Howard shifted from love stories to psychodramas and paranormal plots? Boy did her fans howl. I followed along if just to keep her writing.
The romance, for me, was not the most interesting part of the book. In fact the most engaging character is the teen- aged, grieving girl. If Helena Hunting doesn't have a teen daughter herself, she sure remembers what it's like to be one. I loved the character in part because teens and children in romance novels are too often precocious and intrusive annoyances. But the H/h were almost afterthoughts to me as I finished the book. In fact, she's pretty annoying with her "if you don't remember why I hate you I'm certainly not going to tell you!" act. He on the other hand is pretty perfect. Maybe TOO perfect for her!
Hunting will still be an auto-buy for me and I'm curious as to what she comes up with next. But I do feel kinda snookered by the title and the cover.

Helena Hunting’s Meet Cute from the very first page will have you hooked. Kailyn Flowers is a law school student when she literally crashes into Daxton Hughes her celebrity crush from when she was growing up. What she doesn’t know that many years later she will once again meet him for a total different circumstance.
Daxton Hughes a successful lawyer, a former teen idol living a great life with a great family has every thing change in an instant.
Years past and when Daxton & Kailyn meet once again he needs her help when he finds himself the sole guardian of his sister and she is the one he trusts to make it right. You will watch this relationship evolve as they go through many bumpy moments that will test there commitment not only too each other but to Daxton’s sister.
You will have so many emotions as you go through this book, there will angst, sadness, compassion and love but the one you will have by the end is one that will leave a smile on your face as you see the words The End.

Helena Hunting is one of my “must buy” authors & once again, she does not disappoint!
Meet Cute is like all of Helena’s books rolled into one...You get a lot of laughs, some angst, heartwarming moments, & a whole lotta hotness all wrapped up in one story!
We’ve all that that “Fangirl” crush on a celebrity & Kailyn Flowers is no exception! Lost in her own world, while on her way to class, Kailyn collides with the object of all her teenage fantasies, Daxton Hughes. But what starts out as a fangirl encounter quickly evolves into a case of law school rivalry for the top spot in their class.
Fast forward 5 years & an unexpected tragedy once again places Dax in Kailyn’s path. As much as she despises Dax, Kailyn is professionally obligated to help him. What starts out as hatred, soon morphs into respect, then friendship & eventually a whole lot more.
I absolutely adore both Kailyn & Dax’s relationships with Dax’s 13 year old sister Emme. The “Aisle of Red” scene is one of my absolute favorites & just reinforces how much Dax loves Emme & how he will do anything for her.
I can’t tell you more without giving you spoilers, but what follows is a story that left me full of emotions. It had a few twists, lots of laughs & tears, and some really hot love scenes!
If you haven’t read Helena before, Meet Cute is definitely a great place to start!

I just want to start by saying there isn’t anything this woman writes that I won’t like. Each and everyone of her books is special and unique in their own way and I absolutely adore that about Helena and her books.
As soon as the book went up for pre-order I decided instead of buying the ebook to buy the paperback because a beauty like this is even more incredible to read when you’re sat in your comfy place with it in your hands and flipping through the pages whilst smelling that new book smell, it’s an incredible feeling and one that I wanted whilst reading Meet Cute.
From the very second I picked up the book I knew I was going to quickly become addicted to this book, to the characters and their story and I was right, 100% right. Dax, Kailyn and Emme consumed my every thought right through to the very end and even now, a couple hours later, they’re still there.
Their story is incredibly sad and heartbreaking. Loosing a parent when you’re old enough to deal with heartbreak is hard enough but when you’re a 13 year old girl everything feels like it’s ending. Watching Emme go through this is devastating and makes me tear up just thinking about that happening but then she has Dax, the brother, the man left to look after her and he’ll do everything he possibly can to see that she has everything she needs. Watching him with her is so beautiful, he has no idea but that doesn’t stop him. Imagine being a 30 year old man who just became a legal guardian to his 13 year old sister who just so happened to get a visit from Aunt Flo for the very first time...that’s just one of many things this guy has to deal with and although he has no clue it’s beautiful watching him try so hard to understand. I fell hard for this man. Then throw in Kailyn, a face from the past that is now involved with Emme. Things are most definitely interesting between them and it’s a joy to have read.
Helena Hunting is a phenomenal writer, I’ve been a huge fan of her writing ever since the epicness that is Pucked. I became addicted and never looked back. She’s my go-to author whenever I’m in a rut or simply need a pick me up. Every time she hammers out a new book she puts her everything into it and it shines brightly throughout the book. It’s beautiful, it’s incredible, it’s Helena freaking Hunting!
Meet Cute is fun, heartbreaking and adorable. It’ll have your heart breaking and cheeks aching within seconds of each other.

So to start off the cover is super cute.
Daxton & Kailyn's story starts with a flash back to their quirky first meeting at college, which is mortifying for Kailyn but nevertheless hilarious to read. They met again several years after graduation, when Daxton's parents engage Kailyn to set up a trust for Daxton's 13 year old sister Emme. We don't know why but Kailyn really isn't happy to see Daxton again. Finding out what happened is totally overshadowed by the death of Daxton & Emme's parents. I knew this was coming, but man the tears flowed. Life as Daxton knows it changes, he is now legal guardian to his sister and their aunt isn't happy about this so sues for custody, Kailyn is asked to be Emme's conservator durin gthe proceedings. What is aunt Linda's motive? Who would get custody? Will Kailyn's opinion of Daxton change? Helena answers these questions and more, with the perfect mix of intrigue, angst, light heartedness & comedy.

This book follows the life of Kailyn Flowers, the sassy yet lovable lawyer who has to come face to face with her college crush, the once famous Daxton Hughes, who she tries so hard to hate(and fails miserably). The story revolves around Daxton and his adorable little sister Emme and their fight to remain together after the death of their parents, with the help of our main protagonist of course. The three characters make a very sweet little family and it was so easy to become invested in what happens to them. •
There are many twists, turns and misunderstandings, along with the crazy Aunt Linda this book is a very gripping romance read!
I would definitely read this book again, it was romantic, funny and kept me gripped needing to know what happened next.

Meet Cute the latest story by Helena Hunting was an excellent read. But honestly, it wasn't quite the story I was expecting and it isn't really the light hearted, rom-com that the cover may be suggests. Yet, it was very enjoyable and I loved this mix of emotion, sweetness and angst. Along with the little sprinklings of humour, cuteness and great characters. Who were very charming, charismatic, and really relatable and in Kailyn's case a little kooky. And I was definitely hooked throughout. Which is why I would happily recommend it to others.

Yet again Helena Hunting manages to give us an amazing read that has us hooked into storyline and characters!
Why have I left it this long to read it?
I didn't read the blurb before going in but to be honest it wouldnt have made me change my mind as I'll always had what Helena writes..
Jammed packed with emotions and angst I was totally invested with how Daxton and Kailyns story was going to go.
But I honestly think Emme made this whole story for me! Smart.. heart broken.. and loving she was the perfect little sister for Dax.
