I was never a parrot head. Since Jimmy's passing and listening to a bunch of his music, I find it happy and soothing and very positive. I can listen to this and forget we are going to h*ll in a hand basket. The two CDs are great because my car still has a CD player and I can keep one disk in the car and the other at home in my office. Some songs I have never heard. I love the steel drums and peaceful sounds. I hope he's up there jamming with the other musicians! Meanwhile, I'm glad I got this CD.

Since Jimmy is about to go on tour and I have not seen him in quite a long time, I decided to go through my CD's to find the missing pieces in my collection. I ignored this release when it first came out thinking that it was nothing but a money grab. After giving it a second look, I ordered it used from a great vendor so that I can have this collection without lining Jimmy's already huge bank account. For eight bucks with S/H, it was a bargain and I found way more than 8 songs that I needed. The surprise for me was Cowboy In The Jungle.

Since I did not become a Buffet fan until his Hot Water tour, I never grew accustomed to the sound of his old folk ballads and country songs. For me, his best releases were between 1988 and 1996. After that, only die-hard Parrotheads thought that he still produced better than what were really 2-3 star releases. Too many margaritas!!! Quite a few of those old songs have been updated on this release, which I find quite appealing. Many old-time fans complain about this. All I can say to them is to quit living in the past. There is a lot to like on this collection, which is probably one of his best. For new fans, this is a great place to start, since you will not be able to compare the updated versions to the originals.

I recently bought Jimmy Buffet's newest release "Life On The Flip Side" and decided to add this CD set to the order as an afterthought. I am SO happy I did! All of Jimmy's biggest hits are here, as well as other oldies and goodies and a number of covers of popular tunes. Jimmy Buffet paints a compelling picture of what could be for each of us if we just take a step back and let the promise of happiness wash over us instead of trying to force things. I am now a fledgling Parrothead looking for my first JB concert for my baptism. Better late than never! This is a great album even for confirmed fans who have all of JB's releases. Buy the CD, enter Margaritaville, and emerge a happier soul!

This is an excellent 2 disc package, crammed with 38 songs that have made Jimmy famous. Allow yourself at least 2 hours to soak up the music and atmosphere of Jimmy's world.
Some of the songs are well known to Country fans, while some are just worth listening to every word. Yes, you can hear every word.!
I have been to the Florida Keys, but was not fortunate enough to meet Jimmy and his musicians. I must go again. I did find a Jimmy Buffett Margarita Bar in Cancun, Mexico. If you are down that way, pop in and say Hi. Better still, try to find Margaritaville yourself.
