About the Author
Cameron Herold is known around the world as THE CEO WHISPERER. He is the mastermind behind hundreds of companies' exponential growth. Cameron's built a dynamic consultancy: his clients have included a "Big 4" wireless carrier and a monarchy. What do his clients say they like most about him? He isn't a theory guy--they like that Cameron speaks only from experience. He earned his reputation as the CEO Whisperer by guiding his clients to double their profit and double their revenue in just three years or less.
Cameron was an entrepreneur from day 1. At age 21, he had 14 employees. By 35, he'd help build his first TWO $100 MILLION DOLLAR companies. By the age of 42, Cameron engineered 1-800-GOT-JUNK?'s spectacular growth from $2 Million to $106 Million in revenue and 3100 employees--and he did that in just six years.
His companies landed over 5,200 media placements in that same six years, including coverage on Oprah. Not only does Cameron know how to grow businesses, but his delivery from the stage is second to none.
The current publisher of Forbes magazine, Rich Karlgaard, stated "Cameron Herold is THE BEST SPEAKER I've ever heard...he hits grand slams.
When Cameron steps off the stage, he doesn't stop teaching. He is the author of the global best-selling business book DOUBLE DOUBLE, in its 7th printing and in multiple translations around the world.
Cameron is a top-rated international speaker and has been paid to speak in 26 countries. He is also the top-rated lecturer at EO/MIT's Entrepreneurial Masters Program and a powerful and effective speaker at Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer leadership events around the world.

From the Author
After 9 years of coaching Entrepreneurs & CEOs globally, I consistently heard that "meetings suck" only to find out after coaching them a bit, that they had never had any training on running awesome meetings for themselves or their employees. No wonder meetings sucked for them, they sucked at running them.

Over the last 6 month my company integrated the learning from this book into every aspect of our day-to-day operations. We ordered a hardcopy of this book for every employee. This book is included in welcome packet for all of our new employees. We designed a poster for every conference room in the office that has key principles from the book. We run regular trainings on how to run effective meetings. And we are seeing incredible results. We've effectively eliminated and streamlined a lot of our ongoing meetings and now spend significantly less time per meeting. Our customer and employee satisfaction is at all time highest. As the founder of the company one of the feedback I've gotten is that the team feels that we are doing everything we can to protect their time, to take care of them in the professional area that people often hate the most and make them feel more empowered and better prepared to deliver more value to our clients in shorter meetings, hence scaling the impact of this book outside of our organization. We are now sending it out to all of our new clients as a part of our welcome packet. It is not an exaggeration to say that this has been one of the most influential books for the entire organization

I bought this book because I hate meetings. I mean, I really, *really* hate meetings. I spend most of them fantasizing about all of the things I could have gotten done if not for meetings. It got to be so bad that I searched "books about meetings" one day because I needed some tool to instruct what successful meetings look like, and what can be done to make things more tolerable.
Overall, I think Herold does a nice job. The biggest value of this book is that, if your work experiences are anything like mine, you can't convince much of anyone that the way they're doing things is wrong unless you find a professional development book that reinforces your opinion. At the very least, I've been able to pass this book to others in my company so that, collectively, we can identify and diagnose our problems and start to address them, even in small ways. Herold breaks down some actionable steps to make meetings more effective, and he also provides a good framework for the conditions that make a successful meeting. There are things that need to be done in the meeting itself, but more than anything we need to reframe the way we perceive meetings: what they're meant to accomplish, what they need to be effective, and why most meetings aren't worth our time. He does so concisely (it's a very, very slim book) and does a solid job not belaboring the point.
A few small caveats: the beginning is a little poorly edited and has a handful of typos. The end goes over the different types of meetings, but if you aren't a manager and don't participate in things like board meetings and quarterly planning meetings, there isn't a whole lot of value there. There's also a fair amount of seemingly unavoidable buzz words and a few of the same mistakes that management often makes in communication (we're still talking about business largely in sports analogies, for example). However, given the brevity of the book and the importance of its point, its shortcomings aren't significant enough to make it not worth your time. If you're at your wits end with meetings, you'll find some encouragement (and a list of action items) here.

As a manager I was hoping for fresh ideas and examples of how to get people more engaged and improve meeting outcomes. Instead, I received a refresher course on what a meeting is, different types of meetings you can hold, and the importance of an agenda. Pretty basic stuff, and not worth the read unless you are a brand new supervisor or brand new to holding your own meetings. Even then, if you’ve been in your fair share of meetings most of this seemed like commen sense.

This book will be useful to not just managers and leaders, but anyone on any team who wants to achieve success.
He constructed the book really well:
1. The breezy pace made it quick to read.
2. The functional structure made it easy to turn the knowledge into action.
For someone looking to create fast and large results, it's the perfect book.
Here are a few improvements we made in the last ~2 weeks:
1. We saw a massive and immediate boost in efficiency. Simply from following his templates and suggestions for how to organize and run a meeting. This is one of those "I can't believe we weren't doing this before" breakthroughs.
It also triggered several ideas that should improve our biz dev meetings.
2. Started training staff on a few of Cameron's major strategies. And I've assigned ownership of each critical item to a staff member (whereas before this stuff was on my plate).
Aside from the obvious benefits, it's also making clear to me who is ready to take on additional leadership or management responsibility... and who may need more training/support.
3. Meetings are faster, yet more productive than before. For example, one meeting that was 45min is now regularly 25min or less.
4. If you're a "front line" or junior employee, this book will also show you how to use meetings to get noticed and advance your career (regardless of your personality traits).

Where the hell do meetings fit within the modern workworld of virtual teams, company culture building, and non-corporate agendas? If you're a small startup founder like myself, your team might look and act like the goonies - and creating a meeting environment that plays to all of the individual personality types and still moves the mission forward is no easy task.
The steps and insights Cameron Herold provides are so practical and profound I found myself smacking my forehead a few times, and have already copied and pasted multiple sections into evernote for future, repeated use. I've completely turned around my jaded opinions on meetings.
Looking forward to more from Cameron's treasure chest of wisdom.

Effektive Meetings halten: Kompakt und sehr praxisnah
Reviewed in Germany on March 30, 2017Verified Purchase
The Moderator, The Parking Lot, The Time Keeper, Participants, The Closer).
Ich habe mir vorgenommen besonders den mittleren Teil (How to Run a Successful Meeting) in regelmäßigen Abständen immer mal wieder zu lesen.

I read Cameron's first book, and it has become a bible for business in my world. This book is a quick read with lots of great tools and takeaways. I sent the highlights to all of my managers. And I now make sure I have an agenda from anyone who is requesting a meeting with me. Great book for anyone who is hosting meetings or just participating in them. Great tools to keep sales calls on point as well. Great job Cameron !! Again :)
