Product Description
Sick of only being able to have only one game going in Pokémon? InterAct has the answer with the Mega Memory Card for the Game Boy.
The Mega Memory Card is a peripheral that plugs into the cartridge slot of a Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket or Game Boy Color. Game Boy cartridges plug into the Mega Memory Card ¿ and with the unit in place, you'll be able to archive all your battery back-up saves in one convenient place. The unit can hold 100 saves in its 8 megabits of RAM. The unit has an easy-to-follow menu interface to track your saves in memory.
Say, for example, you only have one Pokémon cartridge, but more than one person wants to use the game. Well, you can back up the cartridge's existing memory save onto the Mega Memory Card, and start a new game. When you're ready to quit, save the game to the unit, and then send the original memory backup back to the Pokémon cartridges. Easy as that.

So for those of you buying this memory card for whatever GB System you have whether it be a GB, GBC, GBA, or GBA SP remember if your buying this to see what all games it can save do not get the games that have passwords on them you'll deeply regret it. If your only buying games that this memory card can save then get games that don't have passwords. If your buying both type's of games ones with passwords and ones with out keep the ones with passwords to 1 side and the other games that are a save as you go type by them selfs like for an example as save as you go it mean games like Pokemon and a few other differen't types of games believe it or not but Pokemon games are not the only games they did that with making them save as you go types they also did it with Mario and few Disney and Nickelodeon games for the GB and GBC too.
Well get this Memory card if you have a lot of SAYG games.
By the way SAYG means save as you go.
The box states it's compatible with the original gameboy, however I can't get it to work with the original. The power button won't slide when the Mega Memory card is in it. The original gameboy had a little piece of plastic that holds the cart in on the little notch in the corner (THAT'S what that's for!) but the mega memory card blocks where the piece slides. Oh well, still works great with my Gameboy Pocket, Color, Advance, and Advance SP!
One thing to note - I lost 60 pictures because I went to "RESET". I thought that meant it would do a soft reset to the gameboy but it resets the MMC to factory! GONE! ALL 60! Oh well, live and learn. Whoever said that the menu is confusing must be pretty slow, I didn't have to use the manual. It's all pretty self explanatory!
Probably going to pick up a few more!
It has nice instructions that are easy to follow. The shell of the device is pretty sturdy. However, the slot you plug the game cartridge into seems a little fragile so just be gentle with it. I have saved about 10 different games to it already and the only problems I came across were due to the cartridges and not this device. I have tested the delete game save function for deleting the save data ON THE GAME CARTRIDGE and not the mega memory card, and it successfully deleted all save data on my Donkey Kong Land III cartridge. After I deleted the save data I tested the restore feature on the game and it worked perfectly.
I would recommend this to anyone who wants to make sure that their save data for all of their Gameboy and Gameboy Color games lasts for decades. I would NOT recommend using this on games with a rumble feature, like Pokémon Pinball, because I believe that doing that will eventually break this device by putting too much stress on the cartridge slot. Trust me I feel like I'm going to break it just putting normal games into it sometimes.

Instruction booklet makes everything crystal clear.
Only downside is for the old gray Gameboys. The ON/OFF button intercepts with the yellow cartridge. I had to unscrew my GB and remove the dark gray switch cover in order to get it working. Cutting the Mega Memory Card doesn't work because the circuit board is needed for that ON/OFF area. Now I just flip the ON/OFF switch with a pen and it works fine, but I wish I had known this earlier so it wouldn't be a surprise. Gameboy Colour does not have this problem because the ON/OFF moved to the side.
