Karl and Les are so besotted over finding their mate (Megan) that they're pretty much useless. And it was hilarious, cute & sweet. Just being in her presence got them so twitter pated they could hardly speak or see straight and it had me bustin' up laughing. They certainly couldn't THINK straight. Anyway, Les and Karl are fugitives from the Hunters and have limited freedom to travel without being noticed or scented. Megan is on the run from the Cult family she's escaped from...so a bit of drama there. And through it all, Les and Karl act more like randy teenage boys than men. Laughing and joking and not taking their predicament very seriously....until Megan is taken. That get's their attention and wipes the smiles off their faces.
Very fast paced...good character descriptions...easy connection. Adult language and explicit erotic situations. A few errors like when the threesome are planning to have supper but then suddenly they're getting ready for bed....or when Les is fearfully looking for Megan after she's taken but then we're in Karl's head listening to his thoughts while he's going through Les's motions...then it's back to being Les that's going through the actions. As if the author forgot who was doing what. I also wished there was more suspense and drama with Megan's escape from the Cult she's involved in. It's all smoothed over pretty quickly. This was more about love play than controversy. So much so it almost (but not quite) takes over the dramatic plot. Lastly, I don't know what the controversy is all about...I mean, these shifters have massive magic mojo. They can make people fall asleep or feel drugged or confused. Even some females mated to shifters have the magic to create illusions. So, what's stopping them from uniting and wiping the demonistic Hunters, who are psychobutts mad with hate...what's stopping them from quietly wiping them off the face of the earth? What am I missing here??!?
The year is 1936 and our heroine is an independent woman who works as a Civil Engineer and loves mountain climbing. The hero is an immortal wolf shifter, a Paramount Production Manager and a pack Alpha. He and his two pack mates are borrowing a cabin in the mountains. When he senses their mate.
Add into the mix a Hunter who just happens to be our heroines buddy. They hunt shifters!
In this world the humans know about shifters and now have "Hunters" whose main goal is to kill as many shifters as they can. The immortal shifters are all in trouble because their numbers are falling from a lack of mates and the Hunters who are trying to kill them off.
Read thus different take on the time frame of shifters and the mate that they find. Now on to reading the second book in this series.
