Blog postI can’t believe I’m writing a post about how to feed a baby solids. A year ago I wouldn’t have thought that I would be writing a guide to giving a baby solids. But, here I am. Writing this post from my experiences with my first two babies and most recently with baby number three. Baby number three! And, what a blessing baby number three has been to our family. Our little Lucy-Mae has brought so much love into our home but also so many lessons to be learned and I’m relearning all the baby stuff I1 year ago Read more

Blog postI read The Alice Network in 2017. I recorded this review in 2017 too (shameful). Anyway, rather late than never, especially with this book because it’s definitely a book I would suggest EVERYONE reads. I loved it!
The Alice Network I listened to the audio version from Audible of this book and it was an amazing book to listen to. I felt as if I could smell and see Eve because the descriptions were so vivid and the story was so well told. Rating I definitely give it a Thumbs up and an2 years ago Read more -
Blog postWhat is prose? Prose is writing sentences in their most ordinary form. Some authors lean towards shorter, minimalistic writing styles while others prefer long complex syntax. In this post I chat about how to write better prose easily.
It is important to remember that it doesn’t matter what writing styles you prefer, what does matter though, is how you create every sentence to be a better sentence, a more beautiful sentence to write and ultimately read. Keep it s2 years ago Read more -
Blog postWe’ve all heard the advice “show don’t tell” but this isn’t nearly as easy to do as it sounds.
But why is the “show don’t tell” rule such a tough rule to grasp? Well, readers don’t read for information, they read for entertainment. The reading experience of a book should be better than that of a movie. Keep in mind that your reader doesn’t have any imagery to help them along the way, they have to use their imaginations and so you need to paint a picture for their imaginations.

Blog postI am terrible at completing writing exercises on a weekly basis and I never write flash fiction, until today. A Facebook group for writers that I am part of posted a writing prompt flash fiction challenge with the word “Unsettling” as a prompt. I decided, why not? And so, I quickly jotted down my little story, and here it is.

Blog postIsolation Junction by Jennifer Gilmour is a book that for some reason I want to read so badly but I’m also scared to read. This book focusses on domestic abuse. Jennifer’s is giving away her debut novel for free on Amazon Kindle for 5 days to help create awareness for domestic abuse during this month of January when credit card bills are high and domestic disputes too.
I never share posts like this, however, I feel that this is a worthy book to share. I have already downloaded my copy3 years ago Read more -

Blog postI started reading this book yesterday and it’s phenomenal. It’s taken some time for the author to get into the actual techniques, however the reason for this is so that the reader really grasps the concepts. He uses amazing examples of real people and I find myself associating with the examples on so many levels. Anyway… What I read today that really stood out to me was that you need to create yourself a curriculum to live by. All successful people do. Blog postHow to name book characters is such an important question to ask when writing a book. I think, often a name pops into our heads and we’re inclined to use the name before really thinking the name through.
In this video I give an example of a character introduction of a cute little girl and then pair a name that is not suited to her at all.
