Book Description
The story of Rose was Inspired by Melanie’s daughter, Taylor Rose, who was diagnosed at age 5 with SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder) and then at age 7 with ADHD. Determined to learn all she could about her daughter’s diagnosis, Melanie left her teaching career and became devoted to raising a child who was not only self-confident, but also well-adjusted to the world around her.
Rose’s story centers around a warm-hearted skunk with a love for life and music, who has just moved to a new part of the forest with her family. All she wants is to make a new friend, but she soon discovers the obstacles of being different.
The story follows this sweet skunk on a journey that teaches her about kindness, resilience, and self- assurance, as she encounters other animals that are not so accepting. As the story unfolds the forest animals uncover a wonderful talent that Rose has been hiding. A talent that teaches them how differences can be amazingly beautiful!
The story of Rose sends a gentle reminder of the importance of kindness and compassion for others, while encouraging confidence and self-esteem in the reader. A rhyming book perfect for ages 3 to 8. Parents, teachers and children alike will love Rose's lighthearted story and silly humor.
Written in rhyme with larger print, and highlighted words defined at the back of the book; Rose is a great choice for literacy teachers and parents looking to expand their child's vocabulary.
Rose exhibits a tenacious personality that melts your heart and keeps you reading until the end!
