Ray soon finds himself a laboratory rat in a deliciously cruel experiment. When he arrives at the institute every part of his body is probed and measured in preparation. There is no room for modesty as he is stripped and meticulously examined by the beautiful female doctors. All the information they gather will be used to customize his highly individual journey into submission. Ray is told that, depending on his performance, he may be offered a position as a house slave after the experiment is over and all data gathered and tabulated.
When the big day arrives Ray is thoroughly cleaned inside and out in preparation for the procedure. He is ushered into a futuristic operating theater where his every reaction will be monitored and recorded by a team of attractive female scientists in the adjacent control room. He is bound to a bondage table that is soon revealed to be an ingenious device capable of changing shape and function at the push of a button. All of its fiendish attachments have been customized to fit the shape of Ray's body exactly. The enthusiastic lady researchers use it to their full advantage as they put Ray through his paces. Electrodes are attached everywhere on his body to monitor his reactions and to deliver electrical current to his most sensitive regions. A large anal plug is inserted, capable of delivering tingling pleasurable pulses or horrific high voltage shocks.
For the next several hours Ray is subjected to a cornucopia of physical sensations ranging from the unbearably pleasurable to the agonizingly painful. He receives innumerable high voltage shocks and a merciless single tail whipping from the beautiful Mistress Susan who is recruited by the researchers to kick things up a notch. Ray is allowed to orgasm as many times as he is physically capable of during the proceedings. The enthusiastic and inquisitive scientists milk him utterly and completely dry. In between torments his beautiful captors administer delightful and tender aftercare, especially one lovely scientist named Sunny who decides to make Ray her personal slave.
The "Melinoe Project" finds the sweet spot between tenderness and cruelty. There is very little service oriented submission mentioned in the book. Ray remains the center of attention throughout. The Dominas are compellingly written; from the tender and sentimental Sunny to the cruel and demanding Mistress Susan. Ray is a heroic submissive super star who lasts longer on the terrible torture table than any other male subject before him.
I highly recommend "The Melinoe Project" and it's electrifying sequel "The Art Of Melinoe" by D.L. King.
Not a fantasy world for the faint of heart, this book (and its followup, "The Art of Melinoe") trace Ray's longings and desires as he submits to experiments and sexual tortures that, well, really, only a twisted and evil mind could conjure up (is it wrong I like that evil?). The women that dominate Ray are exceptional characters that D.L. King fully fleshes out. As shocked as I was through much of the book, I grew to care about the characters that populate the strange land she created.
I found myself thinking about this book long after I was done racing through it. And I can't say that I would want to practice the events I uncovered while reading it, but they have informed my erotic images ever since I finished. This book is perfect for submissive men, dominant women, or anyone who has fantasies of highly charged erotica that pushes the envelope.
The relationships between Ray, the sub/slave, and the various women having their various ways with him, are hot and warm. Hot in how they use and abuse him, and warm in the respect and affection they show for him, and vice-versa.
The primary relationship, between Ray and Sunny (his leading Lady) develops as a loving exchange of joy, growth, and aliveness. They are equals in spirit, but with completely opposite roles. Their interactions are a beautiful dance.
The style of Melinoe Project is the cooler aspect of the book. Ms. King writes in an almost clinical fashion. This works beautifully because a) most of the story takes place in a clinic, and b) it allows the reader to feel their own sexual heat as they envision the scenes.
The Melinoe Project reveals Ms. King to be a writer with a VIVID imagination, very fine craft, great perception, and great heart. I strongly recommend it!
