Satisfying Slicing Sounds
Ideally suited for stocking a play kitchen or shopping cart, this cutting fruit set combines hands-on fun and unique learning with creative play. The seven included fruits (pear, orange, melon, kiwi, strawberry, banana, and lemon) can be cut up into 17 hand-painted wooden pieces using the included wooden knife, and then neatly tucked away in the sturdy storage crate. Kids can’t resist the realistic 'crunch' sound when the fruit is sliced.
A Delicious Way to Learn
In addition to teaching fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, this set encourages imaginative and independent play -- and even introduces the concept of fractions. A child can use the wooden knife to cut up the fruit and count all the pieces, and then you can talk together about cutting the pear, orange, strawberry, lemon, and kiwi in half; the banana in thirds; and the melon in fourths.

He loves making pretend smoothies and prentending to bite the lemon with a comedic "sour face" to follow. We also have fun pretending to "shop and purchase" these fruits from the store.
We use the wooden crate as a cutting board and he just loves it.
The Velcro worked fine for us but am sure it has only so many times we can "cut it". Although it seems simple enough to replace if we ever have to.
My only con (a very small one) with this item is it doesn't come with a "carry case" or away to keep all the pieces together BUT a plastic bag works fine :)
The wooden fruit is perfectly painted and the velcro pieces work well together. It's been over a week and they still attach absolutely fine. The "crunch" sound that the fruits make when they're "cut" is the perfect addition to this perfect toy. My boyfriend and i are teachers and we started to teach her fractions as we play "restaurant" ("2/3 of a banana please" or "1/2 a kiwi, thank you") Our niece loves it, we love it. No complaints.
The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that a few of the pieces clearly came from different production line as parts of the same piece of fruit were difference sizes and slightly different colors. It doesn't affect the usability, but seems like they could have better quality control.
