Greet Each New Day
Kids will be excited to greet each new day with this magnetic daily calendar! Two magnetic wood-framed boards, measuring 15.5-inch x 11.75-inch each, are connected with fabric hinges and hang from a sturdy attached cord. Store the more than 80 pre-printed magnets on the bottom board, and move the appropriate ones to the top calendar template to indicate the month, date, and day of week, as well as the season, temperature, weather, and scheduled activities. There are even spots for holidays and to post the child’s mood for the day! Keeping track of busy schedules can be stressful for kids, but with this hands-on calendar, kids gain a sense of control and responsibility while learning essential calendar skills like days of the week, months, years, and the concepts of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Included magnets also let kids track their emotions, activities like parties, music lessons, or vacations, weather, and seasons. Use the bonus piece to create a customized magnet. The calendar helps encourage fine motor development and foster communication and organization skills.

What is today? For a child, that simple question can have so many answers--and this daily calendar helps satisfy them all! Kids will feel a greater sense of control and responsibility when they help post the day of the week, date, weather, and special events on the large magnetic board for all to see. There's even a space to post their mood--an excellent way to open communication and encourage children to gauge their own emotions. Updating the information is simple: Simply take a preprinted magnet from the lower magnetic board (which hangs below the calendar to keep magnets within easy reach). Then place it on the calendar to fill in the information . . . or make a custom magnet by writing on one of two dry-erase magnet tiles! There are fields for day, date, season, weather, temperature, activities, holiday, and mood.

Every morning before breakfast we come to her calendar and we change it around. She likes to check the weather outside first and place the magnetic tile in the weather spot, then she adjusts the temperature. We then change the date and the days and I have her repeat with me what day today is and what was yesterday and what tomorrow will be. We then move on to any activities we have going on and she always adds the park magnetic tile to this. We talk about what up coming holidays are approaching and what they mean and then we move on to how she is feeling for the day.
I have to say I really enjoying this calendar and I know my daughter looks forward to it every morning. There is a blank magnetic tile to add any activity that may apply, I wrote "gymnastics" on ours because she has a class once a week. There is also a black yellow circle to draw a different face than the others that are included.
I really think this a great activity for preschool aged kids.
The bottom flap, where you are supposed to store extra the magnets, is very overwhelming. It made it really hard for my daughter to focus on the calendar part, there was just too much visual "noise" with all the extra magnets. So, I folded the storage part under the calendar and keep all the extra pieces in ziploc bags, labeled for each section. One bag for weather, one for days, etc, so it is easier for her to find them.
Overall, it's a good starter calendar.
